Redevelopment Plan

Instead of derailing a Transfer Thread with redevelopment talk, lets put our ideas and thoughts down here.

So we know the following:

  1. The ground’s capacity is limited to 10,000 because of the single access road into / out of the stadium. In order to increase and improve the stadium, this needs to be addressed first and as a matter of urgency

  2. The terrace stand is becoming a headache with regards to it’s stability. It’s one of the oldest stands that hasn’t been touched since building the stadium and has the biggest strain on it due to people standing / jumping / singing

  3. The “main” stand (with the tunnel) is limiting the potential revenue of the club and hospitality / hosting room options. If that stand and area is properly redeveloped, it could open up many avenues of different income streams.

If they choose to stay on the site the electricity pylon and cables will probably be an issue long term. Certainly it would prevent the away end of being expanded more than 2/3 extra.

I think this expansion plan is from 2005. It has the old carpark portacabin club shop.
I can’t remember where I got it from and sadly it’s the best quality copy I have.

As long as Fred’s face is picked out in the seats of the new stand I’m happy with whatever…

To address no. 2 we simply need to bring back Dodds. That will stop any of that destructive jumping up and down nonsense.

Also answer the need for any expansion.

Were these the plans that were made when the away stand was rebuilt?

They were a few years after that had happened.
It shows the home terrace doubled in size (possible seating in an upper section) and the away end extended for about 2/3 width and about 50% depth extra. So an extra 600/700 seats.

I remember at the time when we moved to AP some talk of the terrace being built in a way that would allow for expansion such as another tier or something…..although that was a thousand years ago so might fall into the category of “bloke down pub told me.”

Surely with Lommy’s lolly, we can buy up some of the industrial estate, build a hospital to replace the decrepit one in town, knock that down and have a new stadium where Loakes Park used to be.

Now that is a great idea :+1::+1:

That’s all well and good, but they literally started building the new hospital on the site of the old one (starting on the car park) about 2 weeks ago.

New hospital?

Just looked it up on google. I didn’t realise that the hospital was being redeveloped. Still no planned A&E though but at least the other facilities are being vastly improved.

Yeah they’ve basically got to replace the tower block and all the 1960\70s buildings.
The old bus depot/Staples must come into being demolished sometime you’d imagine. Hopefully keeping the frontage at least.

Dunno what the replacement plan is but the terrace will be gone in summer so make the most of it while it lasts :frowning:

What makes you say that?

Hot off the press!

I’ve dipped in and out of the subject across various threads but this thing about buying up the industrial estate seems to come up a lot. At what physical point does this stop as I doubt McVities are going to give up a significant R&D facility for WWFC?

Buying up the industrial estate is about as likely to happen as us building a new ground on Hazlemere Rec, then using the fields and woods behind it as parking.

It does seem far fetched but it’s been mentioned a few times so made me second guess whether someone knew something :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.

If it all goes belly up then we can play on Fernie Fields and have The Squirrel as our matchday pub.
