Rice, Stockwell and Dodds interview

Well I guess that down to opinion :rofl:in any case I believe the time at Loughborough was not entirely taken up by this activity.

Paintball!!!

(Or digestive biscuit)

There are many on here acting in the same way as a jilted lover does. I believe there are parallels to this displayed on here on a daily basis . Nothing wrong with being sceptical in a measured manner but some of the negativity in here is different level.

Did you never watch Byker Grove!

Just to add; loved seeing Doddsy in his customary hoodie. If we do have some success this season, one game, instead of lighting up Adams Park blue, everyone should wear a hoodie!

My first prediction of the season is that Jamie Mullins is going to be an exceptional signing and that you will soon come to regret being so publicly underwhelmed by him joining us

not sure he is ready for 1st team mens football , Connell is the one we need to complete if there is an ambiton of top 6

Connell has been very inconsistent for the last 2 seasons if you read what the Barnsley fans think of him . He had a good season under Duff but has failed to reach those heights since. Therefore over spending on him is probably not worth the risk. He is not the only holding midfielder out there . It appears he isn’t coming too.

Fairly routine interview, some interesting bits of information, and clearly a lot of work going on behind the scenes on infrastructure. Felt quite bland, which surprises me that some can have some incredibly strong opinions (either way) after watching. Good to see some engagement with the fans in some way or another.

Fairly unfair for them to all be described as “chancers” by one poster. Tom Stockwell, for one, has a hugely impressive CV. His job isn’t to speak to fans, it’s to recruit for the first team. He’ll be judged once this Summer’s buys have bedded in.

First off - I think this was generally a step in the right direction.

I feel like the club is damned if they do, damned if they don’t sometimes on the communication front - most comments on here are at least acknowledging that they’re making an effort, which is something.

On the downside I also feel that they are sometimes talking a lot but not actually saying anything, that classic “corporatised” feel that others have also picked up on - I get enough of that in my day job, not sure it feels good coming from a football club but perhaps that’s just the way of the world these days.

I do feel that Mike Dodds could have given some clearer pointers of where he felt we went wrong last season, and how we are actually going to set out our stall next season, without giving away any trade secrets…?

I guess the positive that I heard, was that he will be looking to put a style in place that will hopefully allow us to be successful at a higher level, rather than purely focused on what works at this level.

Perhaps I’m reading in too much to this, but ideally this means less dire defensive grindy hoofball, since I can’t imagine that that style is going to allow any potential Championship team to do anything other than hang on and (at best) narrowly avoid relegation?

I don’t much like Dan Rice’s communication style. Too much corporate jargon. Lacked clarity in many of the points he was making.

Otherwise, I thought it was fine.

Very much in favour of the aim of developing a playing style which we can take into the division above. Even if that means we look a bit crap for parts of next season.

I must admit the only interviews that interest me are post-match ones. I was not impressed with our post January season, but I’m willing to give Mike a chance and hoping for the best.
Not much I can do about the ownership or the more corporate nature of things but I’m hoping that itcwirks out well and they have the club’s success at the heart of their decision making.
I cannot wait for actual footballing to start.

I do not have the mental capacity or inclination to actually watch interviews like this (I’d happily read a transcript though) so appreciate all the comments

Can’t say I’m any the wiser after reading the full spectrum of comments about the interviews but it’s been reasonably entertaining.

I just want a club that has respect for its traditions and history and community. That provides an infrastructure appropriate to its level and ambitions but that doesn’t think that money is the answer to everything. That takes decisions that are in the long-term interests of the clubs existence. That values its supporters. And that puts out a team with some semblance of cohesion in how they play.

And as someone said recently, actions speak louder than words.

I’ve taken a screenshot of that comment for when you go ballistic as it all goes tits up in October!

Maybe Rice, Stockwell and Dodds could start playing badminton at Handy Cross and invite fans along each week for some bonding sessions?

Well there we go then. The ‘project’ is now clear as a bell after that succinct catch up from the three main protagonists currently shaping the future of our club!
In no way did it come across as an obligation they despised having to shoe horn into their v busy and v important roles in order to shut the grumbling know nothing fan base up.
Pick it apart, edit out the corporate speak and none of us are now any the wiser as to where the club is going.
What must the likes of seasoned pros in their respective fields like Matt C and GMac, who must have seen and heard it all, be thinking when they drive home of an afternoon? Fancy having had to listen to that meandering twaddle day in day out.

I’m not right often, but goodness me this thread is developing exactly as I thought it would.

Thought that was a very hard watch in honesty.

Rice uses an awful lot of words to say not much at all. “What does the project look like…” took an age to get to the point. Clarity is key from hierarchy.

Dodds “How will the team look / play (or something similar)…” “Hmmm… good question… umm… well…”.

Fuck me.

What on earth lies ahead for this group of players.

The body language was anything but ‘excited or enthusiastic’ about what’s around the corner and felt to me like between Rice and Dodds they damn well know they need to start getting supporters on their side.

The guy on the right looked uncomfortable about even being there, and I can’t see him or Dodds being here in a years time.

I hate to say it but this’ll be a bottom 6 or 7 finish for this season. I hope I’m completely wrong.
