Samaritans Score Prediction - Final Standings

Another long and eventful season comes to an end. Lets have a look at the final standings in what has been a close race throughout the season.

Firstly though I do want to say a sincere thankyou to all those who donated to our charity cause chair boy is fundraising for Samaritans of Plymouth, East Cornwall and South West Devon. Costs of paying the bills are rising and your support makes such a difference to our charity being able to help people in need of emotional support. This season alone we have funded more than 600 calls from people all round the country. Who knows what difference we enabled to those peoples lives. Thanks all.

Right on to the results. First of all big congratulations to @bargepole for getting the most correct score predictions in the season - a magnificent nine correct results. He also lead the table for the most weeks during the season - 16 weeks parked at the top of the table not once getting a ticket. Congrats also to @Wendoverman who lead for another 13. But did either of these posters achieve ultimate glory?

Big congratulations to the winners of the family competitions - the battle of the youngest
competitors, the daughters of the @Ryan_W_Kirkby has been close fought all season but ultimately it was Sadie who beat Rosie by six points. Enjoy your win Sadie. @railwaybeth beat her dad @railwaysteve again and @HomeGameRegular on the other hand scored one for the older brigade by comfortably outscoring @TheManInTheMiddle.

It was great to see new competitors joining us towards the end of the season with @petef1 just edging out @fromRuisliptoWycombe @Atomic and @shitcagowwfc in that race. I hope to see you back from the start in next years comp.

But get on with it you say. Who ultimately achieved glory? Well this season achieved a tense finale. @chris went into the final game in the lead and his draw prediction gave him the in play lead as the game kicked off. A goal in the first half moved @bargepole top of the league and had we scored our penalty glory would surely be his. But no, a Stockport equaliser put @chris back on top and he remained there when Stockport took the lead. But wait who is that poster making a late charge. Sixteenth in the league with just three games to go, could a two goal away win propel him to glory? A third Stockport goal propelled him improbably to top of the table. Another goal for either side would have won the title for @chris but it never came.

Your season winner folks, level on points but champion by the narrowest margin - just one correct score enough to win the title on “goal difference”? @a40 came in third just two points behind, @MFHBlue and @micra were just three points out of the lead, others were very close but your improbable winner hitting the top at just the right time is…

me!!

I hope you enjoyed the comp as much as I did and Steve’s excellently designed crowd competition.. I hope to be back again raising money for the cause next season. Perhaps remember over the summer the words of our greatest manager - “Never too high never too low”.

Thanks all

Thanks @DevC for your diligent work in creating this competition, and the weekly updates.

I was feeling quite smug at half time yesterday, knowing that the 1-0 scoreline would put me back on top. I blame the subsequent horror show on Luke Leahy.

Thanks for running this and congratulations, @DevC.

I think the change of Gasroom mid-season derailed my championship chances. I blame Dan Rice…or something.
Thanks @DevC

Congratulations @DevC - a worthy winner.

I fear I could be challenging near the top next season though

Congratulations @DevC and thanks for once again running a great competition. And I do not think you need change any of the rules.

Congratulations @DevC
Thank you for running this comp again this season.
Im happy enough to finish 13th… not too bad. A top half finish is ok with me

Thanks from me too @DevC . Always a fun distraction

Thanks for running it @DevC. For next season I think I’d like to reverse my “2-1 win every week” vote to a “2-1 defeat every week” please.

@DevC thank you once again for running this competition this season. I go again for next season in the family rivalry against @HomeGameRegular

Well done @DevC. That was a close run thing. My over optimism cost me on too many occasions.

Congratulations @DevC for taking the title, and thanks for running the competition again.

Ditto from me. Hope to be around for at least the start of next season.
