Should Duff be the manager next season?

Yes and yes and yes

What today has shown - if we didn’t already know it - is that whoever is the manager/head coach, any team that has to start with Connor Taylor at the back and Bradley Fink up front isn’t going to win many games.

Very similar players but have no physical presence, don’t smell danger / opportunity to score, get caught in possession and can’t head a ball very well. Neither would look out of place down the Rye on a Sunday morning.

Duff needs time and the team.

Lincoln finished 11th last season. But, i don’t think their manager has the same defensive mindset as Duff.

We cannot totally reset, we need targeted recruitment. A GK if MvS is not wanted. Centre back cover, RB cover. Pace and a CF up front.

cant beleive fans want to keep him roll on next season mid table finish again youll all be happy then

Duff’s interview on 3CR post match was quite brutal about what he thinks is wrong.
Listen to it via BBC Sounds app.

We’d then get sick of people saying the players round him aren’t right. Or the system of play doesn’t suit him.

Centre back cover? I’d go for at least one starter.

I have no issues with DC abd Anders as a pairing. The stats they had together in goals conceded was as good as almost any in the league. Both comfortable on the ball, which helps with players like Morley.

I dont think its a priority

Found this, which was prior to his Huddersfield sacking.

I think the bigger question is should the interim Chairman be replaced.

Oh, trev, how wonderful that you should have timed your emergence from the woodwork to coincide with the emergence of leaves on trees.

Not sure that can be construed as “previous” but it does have a disarmingly alarming ring.

We already had one poster using that without irony.

Thank you wwfcblue. Saved me the trouble of typing it.

Listening closely to Duffs interviews and absorbing all angles of the many posts since the Lincoln Post match interview by MD. It seems to me, its a demand he is making to either Rice and Co, or even Lommy himself.

He is clearly unhappy with some players attitude and ability. Those out of contract, that have not had conversations with the club will be gone. But its the one’s still under contract, and he considers not good enough, or don’t have the desire of proffesionalism that he requires, are the one’s he wants off the books. There is some wiggle room, and an olive branch to Rice’s recruitment, by not saying it has been woeful, but Duffs is appreciating their talent, that saw them recruited, but doesn’t think they have the focused mentality to assist the team to become winners at this level. If the Ownership Group want to persist with some of the players Duff, wants to get rid of, then we could be heading for an Iceberg. Then it will be a case of whom Lommy wants to steer the ship ? Does Rice have enough credit in the bank ?? Is he the only one, that can deliver the long term project ?

Interesting days and weeks ahead, Duffs is a breath of fresh air in comparison to a lot of the tedious corporate modern coaches, a clear disciplinarian, but I don’t think he will accept a fudge,on the direction he wishes to travel.

Duff’s “They’ve wasted ten months of their lives” has been picked up by a few football websites and might become iconic.

I think Lommy would be quite happy for the team to finish mid table each season, as long as his Academy shows significant improvement each year. The Academy was his absolute expressed priority at the start of his reign.
