Yes… Many seem to be forgetting that the shocking start of last season happened under dingbat Dodds. Yes obviously we need strikers and a little reinforcement… But the reason we didn’t finish higher was the incredibly shit start we had under Dodds. Before Duff came in we were all talking about a relegation battle! And with a good reason!
Duff came in like a breath of fresh air and got us playing like a team. We quickly jumped up the table when he got his hands on us and we started to get excited about the possibility of an auto or at least at shot at going up via the playoffs.
I have not one doubt that if Duff was Incharge instead of Dicky Dodds from the off, we 100% would have at least made playoffs. The results before and after Duff speak for themselves.
I don’t think Duff needs as many incoming as a lot of you think. We need strikers for sure, but in reality we already have a very strong side once the strikers sign. COYB!!!

To be fair the go awful start was almost matched by the God Awful end. We probably should have made the playoffs but became really bad. Both take a bit of blame for our finishing position.
Duff needs a good start ( maybe thats whats impacting any transfer business)
3 wins in our last 11 games and 10 points from 33. Any management group may be wary to go all in on who that manager wants, especially after being burned recently.

Duff did what he could with what he had. I get ya, and take your point, but already with a new number 1 and an exceptional new cb on board I’m positive.
I have a couple of QPR supporting mates, they have done nothing but sing Cook’s praises. He was exceptional for them last season and can’t understand why he’s been let go

Yes, but how often is that excuse ignored. If we win 3 in 11 at the start, id expect he gets sacked. Bloody hope not, dont want to do it all again.
Duff was generally really good. And for a big chunk we looked prime for the playoffs, and at 2 nil at Bolton looked almost a certainty. Then it all went wrong, and even with injuries he looked a bit lost and rattled. Hopefully wr have a good startm
I said this countless times and I will say (my belief) again because I’m as bad as a broken record.
Losing Anders and Dan affected us as a team as a defensive unit.
The Bolton game affected us mentally as a team. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back after schooling Reading on their turf and we came out of that pointless.
We were never the same team that was marching up League 1 once those three above happened. Yeah we had some good wins, and we had some awful losses.
But the head start we gave everyone under Dodds also never helped.
Now, we certainly had an awful start to the season. But we also had a horrendous end to the season.
I’m sure many could quite justifiably point to our injuries in defence as mitigation for that end to the season, but we did also have a number of loan players that aren’t with us that contributed to the scoring end of the pitch.
There are gapping holes that need filling, otherwise they will need to be filled by players that didn’t make the squad last season.

Maybe I neglect the memories of the end to our season as by that point I was resigned to mid table mediocrity and just grateful that after the start, we were not in a relegation battle
We were 6 points off Bolton and 10 off Lincoln. We finished 40 off Lincoln and 12 off Bolton. The start was bad, but it wasnt season ending.
If the team really gave up after Bolton thats on the manager.
We had an awful end of the season, yes losing 2 CBs was a problem but it shouldn’t have been such a fall off.

I mean, I really like Duff so maybe blue tinted glasses, but the Inuries didn’t help for sure. In my mind though the massive upturn in results after Duff took over were way more than just a new manager bounce.
Maybe Dodds was so inept however that any manager with any sort of experience would have brought about the massive turnaround?
I like Duffs no nonsense, straight talking, transparent and open demeanour. So… I want to trust, believe and will him to be the best manager we have had in years

Disagree. After the Bolton game…
We played Luton, lost 1-2.
The we played Cardiff, took advantage of a red card which stemmed the storm.
Next game was Leyton, we had a red card early doors, Actually thought we played well but were always up against it with an early red.
Port Vale was a formality, shame we couldn’t do it at their ground.
Stockport (playoff finalists) handed our arses to us, and Bradford was a frustrating 1-2 loss.
Huddersfield was a ridiculous game.
Lost to Blackpool and then were unlucky against Lincoln.
Is that on Duff? Or the players. Or just wind out of the sails?
I stand by my initial post, but respect your opinion and will agree to disagree.
There’s many reasons for the poor end of season. But 3 wins in 11 will always sit as blame on the manager, even with justifiable excuses.
If we win 3 in 11 at the start, hes in danger. And its looked as 6 in 22 which isnt very good.
The start is very important.
The gk is a bit unknown, but ihe can’t be worse the bloody Norris lol
But some forwards aside, we have an excellent core team. Players a few years ago we wouldn’t have dreamed we would have. Fred, Morely, Scowen, Harvey. The rest a decent and or have the ability to progress and do a job this season. Grimmer is solid, and steps up when needed. Anders and Casey were great when fit. Taylor grew into the season, Allen was a useful guy to have on hand. CBM grew into the season, Mullins showed glimpses of his potential, junior has bags of pace and potential if he stops trying one take on or bit of trickery too far… Leahy, not a starter these days but solid league One player and fully passionate and in for the cause… Lowery has real raw skill… I hope he hits the ground running this season… And the rest I could say good things about too! We are surely ate only a few more additional players, a spark, and a little luck away from something special

If you think Duff’s job is up for negotiation then your opinion and mine are even more mis-aligned.
The bloke got us out of the relegation battle Dodds left us in and into playoff contention with more or less the same players.
He rightly gets a full preseason (like Dodds and Blooms did) but to think he’s in danger? I’m expecting a new contract announcement for the man. He’s the best thing to happen to Wycombe in years. I’ve been actually more concerned he’d jump ship to a more traditional ‘big’ club.
I think you need to review the season in closer detail as you’re comparing a ‘damp squib’ ending to quite the form from September when he took over and we were constantly in the upper echelons of the form tables.
