The Rice Out thread

I think if they hadn’t wanted us to get promoted they would of sold Kone and Low in January

I was responding to the post from @AFCWycombe. It’s a shame you have to resort to abuse.

Proper tinfoil hat stuff, this.

I clarified by at saying “or at least were not too bothered about going up”. But then, people with pitchforks don’t look for nuance.

I’ll ask you this in counter - if the club were so bothered about going up, why would they constructively dismiss a manager who had us in the autos? My point is that there have clearly been things more important than promotion to this lot, hence all the games, power plays and general nonsense.

Promotion wasn’t in the plan for this season, but to suggest they actively tried not to go up is very silly.

I don’t believe the club “actively tried not to go up” - the Dodds part was a joke, which I thought most people would get, but evidently not.

But I don’t for a single millisecond believe that promotion was the highest priority to the establishment. Not for a second. Especially as they have said as much behind closed doors (though they could just be trying to justify the fact they failed so spectacularly, of course).

Why play such defensive football then?

Can we not wait until 1st July / End of the transfer window before we judge the ownership group on their ambitions for the 25/26 season? We know who’s been released and who has a contract for next season. Lets wait until we sign a few players, see how the friendlies go (if we have any) and make our judgements from there on?

I apologise if you felt ‘ what planet are you from’ as abuse. Wait to your on the end of some of @CornDog comments then you’ll know what abuse is.

Ultimately, there is not much point in blowing the whistle on internal behaviour, especially having seen how people have been treated for it. The truth will out, and anyone who is still talking themselves into the current regime being competent will see the light eventually (apart from those on here who appear either closely related to the regime or have an agenda to defend them). The more time that goes by with this lot in charge, the more everyone will see that this season was our chance.

Just remember that Wycombe is not the ownership group. You can be a loyal fan (or even a lesser-spotted “proper fan”) and still call things out.

I imagine most people who’d disagree with that excellent statement are the sort who shout ‘if you don’t like it, leave’ during any debates about the politics of the land.

I’ve not seen any suggestion to the contrary.

There’s been a lot of finger pointing like this if you care to scroll back a few pages.

If the planet was Uranus perhaps

I’m very happy that all the top management mistakes, poor decisions, dull coaching and atrocious recruitment has rightly been called out on this forum. I don’t see that as negative at all. I see it as constructive criticism. How will they know what they did wrong if we don’t tell them? However I’m also happy to draw a line under it all and give everyone a chance to prove their worth. It’s just that no one is really starting next season with any credit in the bank. A slow negative start is going to get a real beating on here. Mind you, I don’t think what the fans think is going to have much of an impact anymore. We shall see.

Exactly. We now have to look forward. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Not sure that this is hindsight as it seemed that it was coming for quite some time!

Following his, IMO, abject failure to issue any form of statement following the trouble after the Charlton game, I have written a draft of the letter, IMO he should’ve sent.
You can find it on the Wycombe Wanderers friends Facebook site.
Again, IMO, pretty basic stuff not done.
