The Wanderer

Hi everyone,

I’m stepping down as editor of The Wanderer at the end of this season. If anyone is interested in taking over the role, or wants to know more about what it entails, please contact me via email at wandererfanzine@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

That’s a shame Jonny - you’ve done a great job with it. Thanks for the hard work.

Thank you, that means a lot.

To be clear, my thumbs up was a welcome to the Gasroom gesture, rather than ‘he’s gone get over it…’

Jonny has been an absolutely brilliant editor! Big shoes to fill for the next person. Hopefully it is not someone who says they “won’t change anything” and then we are reading articles about horticulture in the next edition.

Thanks for all your hard work @Jonny_King I hope your successor can chew gum in an acceptable manner.

Well done Jonny, The Wanderer couldn’t have hoped for a better editor in recent times. Hugely supportive to contributers and a very high quality writer himself. Best of luck for next endeavours and to whoever takes on the role, very few fanzines survive in these times if constant change.

Another one bites the dust. You will be sadly missed, Jonny (as I suspect you may also be less strongly motivated following the change of ownership to make those occasional 400 mile (?) round trips to Adams Park).

I haven’t been able to get a copy of The Wanderer since I had to stop attending matches a few years ago but I remember it as a top quality, highly entertaining fanzine.

Good luck to your successor. I’m sure there will be plenty of candidates but I can’t resist mentioning that one of my favourite Gasroomers (whose posts nearly always display an effortless lightness of touch and wittiness) has literally just retired. I believe he has occasionally contributed to The Wanderer himself.

Mike @micra - I still have this season’s 4 copies of The Wanderer and could drop them into you when passing, if you want to catch up.

That’s very kind, Alan. Much appreciated. It’s a while since you visited but I expect you remember the place. Number 30 with a brand new roof and a battered old Hyundai i10 on the drive. Posted earlier but forgot to press Reply. Typical.

Thank you for all the kind words and apologies for not replying sooner. It’s been an absolute privilege to be Editor and I’ve really enjoyed my time in the role. The credit has to go to the writers though, who have created such fantastic work over the last nine years and really nailed the blend of serious and silly. They’ve certainly made my job very easy!
