The same person (club owner) will hold the transfer team to account. There’s just a higher level of exposure to the club owner in that they are more likely to be direct reports than “shielded” for want of a better term by working under the old system manager.
I actually rather imagine it’s going to be a similar model that GA started - and this is conjecture of course but it’s how the model is working higher up the leagues - in that players will be signed to fit the club model. I.E. “what makes a Wycombe wanderers player”.
Players won’t be Matt Bloomfield, Mike Dodds or whatever manager comes after successful or not players, but players the club deem to forfill the set criteria the club has as a vision. They will be Wycombe Wanderers players. This is to stop the constant turn over of players if/when a head coach/manager departs.
It’s also why there’s more than one person that has to agree. It’s too big of a decision for one person to have (this of course, is an issue in the last window as I’ll come onto Dans position and the power he currently has).
One key issue here, is we have no idea what that vision is currently, so it does look a bit rudderless. Although long term I suspect it will be take from the academy rather than look outside (on the most part)
Another key issue (for me) is that Dan Rice is what, Cheif Football officer AND interim chairman. So probably has two spots on that committee and so has a balance of power shifted to him.
That’s not a failure of Dan Rice though - how long is he going to be both roles and will one of those roles be split out.
Does that mean the balance of power, so to speak, is on Dan? Yes - but that’s a decision and situation the leadership as a whole has allowed.
But it’s really easy to only blame the one guy that speaks to us and not the real owners that hide in the shadows and don’t speak to us.
We didnt have a constant turnover of managers because Gareth was the best one we’ve ever had, and in any case, most of the time he was here we were broke and didn’t have the money to sack him anyway
Welcome to the biggest load of drivel I can recall in decades of participating in every iteration of the Gasroom. Malone, our much respected former Gasroom “colleague”, has probably made a wise decision.
he has no excuses anymore…i would much more willing to give him a chance if we play ggppd football…his tactics are floored , once we conceed we are doomed…he is a crap manager
On the face of it, there’s no shame coming third behind Birmingham and Wrexham, or even fourth behind Charlton. But the way it’s happened is going to sting for a long time.
It’s easy to say the top two made L1 harder than it’s been for a long time, but does next season look any easier? Cardiff and Plymouth will be favourites to go straight back up, along with whoever comes down with them. Peterborough, Barnsley and Huddersfield won’t be this poor again and you wouldn’t bet against Bradford contending for back to back promotions. Reading are a big club for this level if they get themselves sorted out too.
been watching Wycombe for 30 plus years…Dodds got to be top 3 worst manager.we.have had …would gladly take.GA back…dire football but at least had passion and cared …a paper bag has more emotion than Dodds.
