Who starts against Bolton?

Fred is well ahead of Fink in the striker pecking order. Fink is 4th choice at best. Duff drops him for a reason. He’s crap

Fred is a winger. Losing him as a winger impacts us.

we’re allowed to name 7 substitutes on the bench. Surely there’s room for Fink and Woodrow if Lowe starts?

Fink is knowhere near a League 1 standard centre forward. However, Duff knows better than both of us (well at least me) so we will see on Saturday.

Bookies have Bolton favourites for tomorrow.

Bolton win - Evens

Wycombe win - 5/2

You may be right about Fink and we have to trust in Duff for sure. What bothers me is that Fink appears to be written off by some on the strength of 2 league starts and a few end of game cameos. He has scored 2 goals in the three (?) cup games he played in so while the comparison is flawed the 2 league games were losses so it seems harsh to judge him isolation.

By no means banging the Fink drum as Duff clearly has better options available in Lowe & Woodrow but unless we can sign one or both at end of season we’ll need to find a permanent solution if Fink is considered surplus to requirements. Maybe times have changed with our new found wealth but something doesn’t sit right with me if our club and our fans are writing à kid off after just a couple of games. And, I repeat, games the TEAM lost prior to our upturn in form.

Interesting take on Junior from the Bolton stats man in their podcast review

But he doesn’t score goals.

Not that’s a great reference, Dodds also didn’t seem to have much faith in Fink! Or could it be that Dodds actually damaged Fink’s progression even more than he did with some of the other members of the squad?

Dont know. Maybe never will.

Perhaps I just have to accept that my team can now spend £1m on a player and decide he’s not the right fit after just a few games.

But then Martin ONeill got rid of Steve Abbley shortly after he arrived. That surprised the fans cos Abbley was pretty good but MON was proved right. He knew what we didn’t.

And all this in an era where we signed two stellar players Ashford & Barrett from Enfield for £10k. So £1m for a Wycombe player still blows my mind a little.

25 years ago we signed Darren Currie for £200,000. In general football transfer values (not inflation figures) that is probably equivalent to at least £1m now.

really enjoyed that, but Morley did not play in the no.10 role in his first stint at Wycombe

made me chuckle that George thought the player swap that Bolton lad wanted was Woodrow haha

Hi guys, looking forward to your visit on Saturday though I won’t be there myself as I’m in Northern GeneralHospitalrecovering from my triple heart bypass operation from Tuesday. It certainly looks like being a cracker of a game though with two in form teams both needing a win. If we can repeat the goal scoring form of last Saturday at Exeter we should be ok but we’ve drawn so many games we should have won through not doing. Finally Dalby seems to be hitting form alongside Kenny our loan from Celtic and with the service they’re now getting from the wide areas from Apter on the right and Cory Blackett-Taylor on the left we picked up in the last few. Obviously you need a win so it should be a hard fought game and difficult to pick a winner but I do think that if we continue with recent form we may be just too strong for you but it’s just the type of game for AM to sneak a winner so who knows?

Im sure youre right. Is it not still a pound à pint then?

I remember when we signed Currie. Much like Steve Thompson Wycombe fans were desperate to get him just like Aaron Morley recently. The money wasnt the focus because we knew how good they were. Currie was a lower league LeTissier who didn’t shine as brightly for us as his undoubted talent promised but still had magic moments in him. Thomson, simply legend. Maybe £1m just don’t buy you much anymore. Or is it an expensive ‘lucky dip’? Glad it ain’t my money.

I take your point about Currie and whether we got anything tangible from his brilliance. But with Currie (and Betsy and Doherty for other examples), we got moments of breathtaking quality to watch. Which sent a real pulse of excitement through the crowd and is one of the things we relentlessly turn out for, isn’t it?

Get well soon @Warranty. :+1:

It is. And one day Fink may provide similar moments but we’ll never know if he never plays. Dortmund and Basel saw a player in him so I hope he’ll get more opportunities to play in our improving team to show what he is capable of. Won’t see many headers better than his goal at Gillingham. I think he’s worth persisting with and I’d like to see more but ultimately it’s up to Duff. Hopefully Mullins development won’t be impacted to benefit Fulham.
