Still Coventry.
Coventry I believe.
Why does he have three surnames?
He started his career at Coventry. Likely he’s also from there but couldn’t find anything definitive.
Nothing much about him on the internet though I’ve just been reminded that his contract is until June 2028
Good god, it’s not is it?
So he could take us all the way down to National League South?
Wycombe Wanderers are pleased to confirm that Mike Dodds will become our new first-team Head Coach, signing a contract until June 2028.
As the others have stated, he’s from Coventry. I think that is also a thread of his bond with Leahy (I’m not slating Luke here, I’m a Leahy fan).
Hi everyone it’s been a long day and I’ve just got in.
Has he gone yet?
Can’t we just move him sideways ( his favourite direction ) into the Academy to coach the u15s and appoint a proper league 1 experienced head coach?
I think Lomtadze might actually find his balls / voice if Dodds was allowed to ruin the academy players too.
Then a proper Chairman and maybe an experienced director of football.
There is a painful lack of strong, experienced leadership throughout the club right now.
Does anyone from the Supporters Trust have a seat on the director’s table at the moment or is it just Rice, Lommy & Eduard?
This is one explenation as to why Rangers are doing so badly (taken form the BBC):
“He wants his players to take the ball in and play quick, sharp passes to work up the pitch. But when players aren’t wanting the ball, that’s a bit of a problem”
This is Dodd’s issue as far as I can see. Dodds himself has said they need to be braver and this I think is what he means.
Presumably it’s a lack of confidence that means they stay in their shells and don’t get into positions to recieve the ball. Russell Martin is having the same issue at Rangers with better players. Maybe the players we have are just not good enough to do what Dodds wants?
In turn they then suffer a hit to their confidence and it then makes their performance even worse.
I’m not so sure, from my perspective, I get the impression that the players are too afraid to take the risk and try something. They want to play the safe option and it’s almost like Dodds’ has taught them that if you have the ball, the opposition can’t score.
Prime example was Leahy lining up for his freekick, Dodds shouts an instruction and its then played square and the chance has gone.
I don’t disagree. What I do observe though when playing out form the back, that that it always goes to a wing back, they look for options and there are none (nobody making movement to recieve the ball),then it does straight back to Van Sass. The same heppens when he gives it to Leahy,no options further into midfield,he passes back.
Partly this is to do with the press the opposition puts on to counter the playing out form the back and I think partly they are just not confident enough in doing it.I am sure Dodd’s vision if for it to be happening much, much quicker.
Maybe if they had the ability to do it it would work.Maybe they simply have not?
Maybe it’s just not that effective a tactic at this level
Well that’s kinda what I am saying.Martin can’t make it work with better players so what chance for us?
It can certainly be effective with two caveats. You must have an exceptional ball player in the 6, Aaron Morley (to a lesser extent Freddie Potts). And you must be prepared to mix it up and not be too predictable. We have neither, except in the Mansfield game where we were prepared to do the latter at least.
