Our latest signing, Abbie made her debut for Oxford United last December, as a 16 year old sub against Gwalia United in the National Southern Premier, and made one further sub appearance.

Bridgwater United Women have moved to a new ground. Last season they played 30 miles up the M5 at Clevedon Town, this season they will be based at Middlezoy Rovers FC, five miles east of Bridgwater and adjacent to Westonzoyland Airfield. The 2,100 capacity stadium has a small seated stand and a grass pitch. It will add 30 minutes to the journey time from Burnham. I have updated the map.

Another signing announced this evening. She played today and scored, so I think she must have been playing as the central striker.

Anaisa is 25 years old and has extensive National League experience. She started out with Watford in 2018, spending three seasons there, before joining Portsmouth for two seasons. She then moved onto Chatham Town, Haywards Heath and Ashford Town, and was virtually ever present for Ascot United last season.
Retained list announced, I can’t see any major departures but will check later to see who made appearances last season and has left.

A few mentions. Sophie Harvey made the right back spot her own with over 20 appearances in all, I really enjoyed her perfectly timed, hard tackles! Meira Ashby’s two goals turned it around at Winchester City Flyers for the win, which ultimately gave us the championship by one point from the Flyers. Keeper Robyn Cullen gave some impressive performances early season, and Lucia Delves’ run in goal was cut short by an unfortunate injury. The other departed keeper, Erin Radbourne on loan from Spurs, was also another impressive goalkeeper.

Hattie is 25 years old and made 20 appearances for Ascot United last season, scoring four goals, and was voted Players’ Player of the Season. That was her first season back from several years in the USA, playing for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles in Daytona Beach, Florida. Prior to that she spent two seasons at Watford, and was at Denham United before that.

Bumped in to relatives of Lucy Willoughby while in France this week, we are staying in the same chalet.
She was Managers Player of the Season for the U18’s and has accepted a scholarship at a US University to study and play footy.
Well done Lucy, hope to see her back in the light and dark quarters in a few years.

Not strictly Wycombe Ladies, but certainly women’s football related.
Over the last couple of years I’ve been acquainted with a couple of women’s international players - one Hungarian the other Norwegian.
As with professional men’s players they are noticeably stronger and more athletic than your average person - well me anyway.
The Hungarian, although playing for the national team, couldn’t hold down a place at either West Ham or Arsenal (?) and has since moved back to Hungary I believe.
My point is that Women’s Football in the UK is certainly moving forward and becoming more professional and no longer a “few girls kicking a ball around”.
