‘We’ve got Ivor for chairman, we’ve got Martin and Glynn, we’re Wycombe Wanderers and we’re going to win!!!’ Arrgh, that song is in my head again!! Seems like 5 minutes ago, yet the footage and narration would fit seamlessly into a pathe news piece! Brilliant, thanks Gez6263

The footage really looks like a bygone age doesn’t it. Made me feel very old.

Thanks!

Some great scenes there that brought back some happy memories from so long ago so cheers for posting this.

This comes up with every video posted on here.

Anyone know how I can prevent it?

Pressing ‘sign in’ does nothing. Very frustrating.

If you search on You Tube there are similar films going back to the 1980s , some featuring Loakes Park, although they look like they could have been made in the 30s.

It’s amazing that the early nineties look like they could be the early 70s. The pace of change eh?

I’m going to freeze frame my way through the Wembley footage to see if i spot myself…

The Wessex Film and Sound Archive channel on YouTube is amazing. I have spent far too many hours watching the content, half of it without any audio tracks.

1993 was a time of big technological change. The Internet was just getting underway, little did we realise just how big a change it would be. Young’uns can’t imagine a pre-internet and pre-mobile phone age! Chairboys.co.uk would not appear until December 1995. Mobile phones were becoming cheaper and more portable, but were still small bricks. I remember buying my first one, a Motorola, from Halfords on the London Road, HW in 1994. I can also remember the excitement when Windows 3.11 was rolled out at work in 1994, giving us our first desktop computing after using dumb terminals.

Just search for it manually directly in You Tube. I suspect this is some forum settings preventing you opening it up in the forum.

Just type ‘Wycombe world 1993’ directly in you tube and you can watch it.

Ha! I bought my first Motorola MR20 from the Orange store in the Octagon in ‘95. Felt like a right Del Boy.

I also remember a couple of years later, and for the life of me I can’t remember what it was called, but a decent pool and snooker place opened on Corporation Street. They also sold ‘Carling Premier’ which was one of the few places in town that did when it first opened.

And the old snooker club off Desborough Road, would spend hours in here and the lady would serve us even though we were underage!

Many thanks Gez and Pete. Just a question now of getting round to it.

Sat down about an hour ago to watch a bit of football. Had no idea what stage any Sunday afternoon match might be at and was amazed to see that Everton were winning 4-1 at Anfield with half an hour still to play. Took me a minute or so to realise that it’s international weekend and Sky were covering WSL.

Over to the cricket. Jacob Bethel going great guns.

What a superb innings from the young man and a very good win with a record margin.

telling young people that we had to forage for pornography in the woods is met with blank stares

and a police caution……
