Tomorrow, Sunday, Bucks Men host Oxfordshire in their T20 group. Oxon have won one and lost three so far, Bucks have won one out of two. First match at 11:00, second around 14:30. Venue is Pound Lane, Marlow SL7 2AE, and this is the first time the 1st X1 have played there since 2013.
Also tomorrow, Bucks Women start their campaign in the Metro Bank One Day Cup Women’s League 3 - Division 1. Their travel to Budleigh Salterton for an 11:00 start to face Devon, who had a spectacular start two weeks ago in a match against Berkshire, which saw a total of 642 runs scored. Devon won by 114 runs, scoring 378-5 off 50 overs which included an extraordinary knock of 205 off 136 balls by Jemima Vereker.
Bucks made 188-8 off 20 overs. A very good innings by opener Billy Dodds, 70 off 46. Four wickets in 13 balls mid-innings slowed the rate but the last two wickets put on 53 in very quick time.
In the second match, Bucks won the toss and elected to bat, making 210-3off 20 overs. Billy Dodds 78 off 47, Matt Pardoe 68 off 42, Josh Lincoln 47 off 21. Those three hit 12 sixes.
Bucks Men face Berkshire at Wokingham CC in a T20 double header. First match starts at 11am. Berks, Bucks and Beds top the group with six points.
Bucks Women travel to Neston CC for the T20 County Cup QF against tier 1 Lancashire, who are the current holders. This will be Bucks Women’s biggest match and they are the last remaining tier 3 team in the competition. This is a single game starting at 14:30.
Bucks Men won the first T20 by 42 runs after winning the toss and electing to bat. I’m not there today but Bucks’ totals of 133 all out after 20 overs seemed modest. However Conner Haddow, who else, ripped through through Berks and returned the remarkable figures of 6 wickets for 9 runs off four overs. This included wickets in the second and third ball of the innings.
The second match is underway, Berks won the toss and elected to bat, Archie Dodds has taken a wicket in the first over of the innings.
Berkshire won the second game by a very comfortable 133 runs. Berks 200-6 off 20 overs, Bucks 67 all out off 15.5 overs.
A win and a loss away to such a strong side as Berks is a good day’s cricket. With Oxon and Beds sharing the honours today, the situation at the top of the group remains the same. The top three qualify for the next round. Bucks play Wales at Marlow next Sunday. Edit - correction, Bucks play Wales on Sunday 5th July.
One of many records on the day. The first time a Bucks player has taken more than four wickets in a T20 innings, and the second best of all time in NCCA T20, behind Oxon seamer Ollie Currill’s seven for 12 three years ago.
Berks’ total of 91 in the first match was their lowest in T20, but they took revenge in the second match. Their 133 winning margin was a competition record and Bucks score of 67 was their lowest ever.
No matches tomorrow. On Thursday 2nd July Bucks Men take on Middlesex in the annual 50 over “showcase” match, at the very attractive Wormsley Estate, near Stokenchurch (HP14 3YE). The match starts at 11am.
