Charlton (A) Tickets

I assume they don’t have the staff to deal with the numbers who want to collect on the night.

I enjoy a paper ticket as much as the next man, but there are better ways these days…

To not at least offer e-tickets as an option is pretty mad imo

I’ve once collected/purchased tickets at Charlton.

If I recall correctly it’s basically an individual in a portacabin dishing out the tickets to each person from the queue in turn. Probably takes only a minute for them to sort each one. But if there are several hundred people collecting then it obviously becomes a problem. It also only takes one person’s tickets to have been lost, put under the wrong name or not alphabetised correctly to cause a massive delay.

I think they were also selling tickets at the same time as well, although that shouldn’t be an issue on Thursday.

All sounds a bit tinpot

You know how it goes.

‘Yes sir’?
‘I’ve got some tickets to pick up.’
‘What name sir’?
‘Terry.’
‘Is that Mr Terry? And your first name’?
‘No my name’s Terry, it’s Terry Francis.’
‘Ah, ok, let me have a look under F.’

30 seconds later…

‘Sorry, I can’t seem to find any under Francis’.
‘Oh, yeah, I didn’t order them, my mate did but he’s not here yet.’
‘Ah right, what’s his name please’?
‘Chris.’
‘Mr Chris’?

x 700.

What makes it worse is the staff are paid by the hour they work, not by how fast they sort out the tickets.

It’s to their advantage if it takes all day.

Enjoy the night tomorrow. Have a feeling it’s going to be one of those great ones that live for ever in your minds. Wish I could be there

It didn’t help that they ran out of paper tickets to sell, so they had to send for more to be walked round from the other end of the ground. That’s when the line really snaked and swelled.

Will there be any tickets to buy at the ground / gate tonight?

No, 4pm cut off I think
