Dan Rice acquires 10% of Wycombe Wanderers

So, you hadn’t read it, hadn’t understood what little you had read, and posted a snide reply that had nothing to do with the post you were replying to? Lovely fella.

“He must have seriously thick skin”.

Why must he? Because the implication is he is disliked by the fan base after perceived disastrous work so far.

Hence a comment about maybe the gasroom opinion on him isn’t held by a lot of non gasroomers.

You skipped the whole context though didn’t you. It was a reply, and a quoted one, to a post that was talking about him reading the gasroom. Bigred’s post was, quite clearly to anyone who read it, saying he’d need thick skin to be on the gasroom.

Move on.

To eager to jump on my comment without reading it… Tut tut tut… this is becoming a bit of habit sir, Lewis Skelly last week… whatever next

I’ll level with you, I don’t think Dan Rice posts on here.

I think this is a good move as it gives DR more skin in the game than just a salary, he is now part owner and has the responsibilities of a custodian now.

I have been fairly dubious about his abilities & competence but acknowledge that he has publicly admitted to making mistakes in his first 12-18 months in charge, which in and of itself is a positive; couple that with the appointment of Duff, the infrastructure works carried out and what is hopefully a decent summer transfer window & he may have gone some way to proving himself a decent CEO/Chair.

Publicly acknowledged, but still never apologised.

One step at a time…

People don’t always have to apologise for making mistakes.
I would activily encourage EVERYONE to go out and make mistakes.
Making mistakes shows you are willing to try something new and different.
Sometimes mistake are made from Niviety, lack of expirence. Some times malice.
However, Making mistakes is the best way to learn.
I would much rather people acknowledge when they make mistake and take steps to learn from them than be forced into apologising every other week.

Rice seems to have the learning feedback loop firmly plugged in and has shown evidence of adapting and learning.

But thats still not good enough for some and would demand apologies and still tell him its not good enough and that he deserves a flesh eating disease.

In my mind, the bigger cretin is someone that wishes that sort of thing on another human. but thats just me.

I’ve read all your views and there are some interesting points & views. However I think we need to be mindful that this is a person, a father to children and I’d hate for anyone on here to actually wish physical harm onto someone.

My view is that while his management of Blooms was really poor up until the time he left, I believe that he has learnt from that experience & also the nightmare of Dodds to lead this club in a better way. The transfer window in Jan was half-way to learning the lessons of previous windows where Duff was listened to and players were moved on to lighten the squad. This summer is huge for Rice as there are a number that need to be moved on, some will be at a loss in order to free up space for (hopefully) quality to come in.

I believe that this is a clear sign that Lommy & his financial backing is here to stay for the medium / long term. By placing Rice in the club’s ownership, their exit from the club won’t be a fast one.

So what I’m trying to say is that I think we need to just see how this summer goes. Lets see if Duff is supported as an equal rather than being told what to do.

Has anyone noticed that Lommy’s son-in-law hasn’t been given the opportunity to be an owner on the board?

Whaaaaaattttt!

A pretty vile thing to say about any human being, regardless of your personal opinions of their conduct.

I’ve long suspected that Lommys silence and non appearance is mostly because this venture is Dans idea but needed someone else’s money to put the plan in action.

You know, a bit like dragons den, he’s pitched to a billionaire to put the investment in while Dan runs the show and has to hit certain milestones to release funding (and shares if would seem) while Lommy has his son in law as his eyes on the ground.

Lommy gets his money back either by selling the club on later or from the sale of academy players.

Have you even met the bloke? He doesn’t even know you exist and you have this much hatred for him

I’m glad he’s re-affirmed his long term commitment. It’s definitely about the long term though, lets hope it bumps into the short term at some point along the way!

But FYI Mikheil, as a supporter, I am, have always been (42 years and counting) and always will be, proud of Wycombe Wanderers!!

There is a very good reason for that.

I don’t think Rice holding 10% of the shares is significant in the grand scheme of things.

However, if I had been in ML’s position, I would have shown both Rice and Dodds the door at the end of the 24/25 season. We were on course for automatic promotion, and without re-opening the whole debate about MB leaving, those two managed to screw it up.

Let’s hope lessons have been learned, and Duff gets the players he needs to make us a top 2 contender again.
