Do you want to play for Gasroom FC?

Wycombe Wanderers Foundation have announced the inaugural Adams Park Community Cup, hosted at the home of Wycombe Wanderers!

"This festival of football is an opportunity to play on a top-level professional football pitch graced by Chairboys legends and help us bring our community together through the beautiful game.

All funds raised from the day will go back into the Foundation for the delivery of our education, health & well-being and social inclusion programmes for our community."

  • All fixtures played on the stadium pitch at Adams Park
  • All teams guaranteed to play a minimum of 6 x 12-minute fixtures
  • Maximum squad size: 10 players (strictly enforced)
  • Cost: £350 per team without food
  • Cost £450 per team with a basket lunch/dinner

The competition is on Saturday 6th June, with two age brackets:
Under 40s: 08:30 – 13:00
Over 40s: 14:00 – 18:30

So, the question is…are enough people interested for us to raise a team (or two)? Of course, all welcome!

  • Yes, I’m interested! Under 40s
  • Yes, I’m interested! Over 40s

Sounds like fun but

being over 65 & at least 40 years since I played any form of football I will sit this one out

Am happy as a subscriber to/of The Gasroom to bung in a few quid to assist those who want to represent us.

If you find yourselves in desperate need of a 60 year old, overweight lump with arthritic knees and mild asthma, just shout.

Anyone is welcome to join if they’d like to be involved!

Could someone bring/rope in a non-Gasroom friend? (I know, crazy that such people exist).

I am 40 but look 30 so went for under 40s

Clearly a dark arts practitioner!
But, as a goalkeeper (which with your username I assume you must be), you will get opportunities to sit down occasionally and your breathlessness should go unnoticed. You might face competition from Will Norris of course.

I am very narrowly under 90 and not exactly match fit so will graciously refrain from offering my services.

Having been seriously ill all year I’ll have to go in goal as goalkeeping is a piece of piss. Just ask Norris.

I’d like to put @Chairboys80 forward as headcoach and myself as head masseuse/physio

Would love to play but I don’t smile much when playing sport. Not sure I could take being called an awful person.

I’d like to put forward @micra as the bucket and sponge man!

My name might suggest I am a keeper but my height would confirm otherwise.

I’m sure your wife thinks you’re a keeper.

Why thank you.

She is pretty good upfront to be fair

I certainly learned a lot from that hoary old Scots groundsman, Jock Sheppard, who used to waddle on wielding an old battered bucket, water sploshing out, and an enormous multipurpose magic sponge.

Luck of the draw. Don’t get me wrong. I am 40, look 30, act 12, feel 67. Sixxxx Sevvvven.

Out of the country otherwise I’d have played.

Is this an actual game? I am well up for it
