Ooh, I was one out! 46
Anis Mehmeti looks set for a January move away from Ashton Gate after declining to sign a new contract.
He’s the clubs second top scorer having finished last season as the top goal scorer. Has double the number of assists of the next best player. Currently one of the stand out players in the Championship if you look at Sofa Score or FotMob stats.
If Anis refuses to sign next month then he will be transfer listed in January with a price of £8-£10M being touted.
We have a sell on clause which could net us in excess of £1M.
His headed goal yesterday was superb. Well done Anis, a great player. ![]()

Just a question but could Bristol City offer us Bell on a free in exchange for the sell-on clause we have with Mehmeti?
I know both players are out of contract in the summer but they might want to pocket the extra £1 million to help reinvest in their squad?
It’s whether our people think Sammy Bell is worth 1 million I suppose. Personally, I would have him as he is a very good player at our level and has had a fair bit of Championship experience as well.
If he’s worth £1m, Fred’s worth £5m! We could spend that £1m on a better player. Bell’s good, but not that good at the moment.
I’d get Bell signed up as an urgency. He’s head and shoulders above anyone else we have one the left.
Bell is only 23. Surely worth a lot of money to Bristol City, especially as Anis looks to be heading off.
Does make me worry that if Anis leaves Bristol City in January they might recall Bell even if only as additional cover.
Sam Bell has been magnificent for us but he’s not ready to step into Anis Mehmessi’s shoes.
I have copyright on that modification of Mehmeti - acknowledged on commentary by Phil Catchpole at the time.
Guy I know in the Vere always pronounced it “Meneti”…. used to drive me nuts. Which, upon reflection, was probably why he continued to do it!
That’s surely the much higher likelihood here. While Bell isn’t Mehmeti, he did make a lot of appearances for City, so might well be reintroduced into their fold.

Good game won by the Generals with our lad Bartello grabbing what proved to be the decisive goal.
21 years ago since Craig was on loan with us, still playing at 40. Hats off to him.
Crikey, Tony Craig. I have a vague memory of him fist pumping to us after getting a Poxford player sent off at their place. On the same day we wore yellow shorts with the Quarters, which wasn’t a great look.
