Thank you nice to know my longevity as a supporter sometimes pays dividends
Saw him play many times A regular in the back four in the late 60s normally either at right back or centre half. With the introduction of Players like Ted Powell John Delaney and Paul Birdseye coming into the club became more of A squad player, but always a reliable stand in
If I remember rightly he contracted a serious case of meningitis in the early 70s but still returned to play. Not too sure of his playing/managerial career after he left Wycombe in around 1974 but I do believe that he did play for Thame Utd for a while
Is that Neal Stanley in the background?
Got me on this one although the picture looks vaguely familiar
To Mr 67 and Mr Peart.
The correct answer of the unknown player was a 1st for WWFC.
Alan Gane on the left?
1st manager to take us above the Isthmian League
Not Alan Gane, The player played for WWFC in the mid 70’s, his brother also played non league football.
Kone and Mehmeti both scoring today
I wonder if the number of ex Wycombe players involved for Stevenage is a record today.
Matt Phillips, Saxon, Jasper, Bez, Chem Campbell, Alex Revell. Phoenix Patterson if we’re being really keen.
Brody Peart and Nnamdi Ofoborh both on the score sheet.
I will have a guess at Bruce McRae. I know he came from an Oxfordshire club and I believe he was the first player of colour that ever played for us. I think that was around the mid 70s which made us a little late to that particular party IMO
Well done Mr 67, it is Bruce McRae.
Also a goal for Hanlan yesterday
Thanks @Borgoff and we’ll done @Mr67. I’ve seen two other spellings used, Macrae and McCrae, Dave Finch went with McCrae and was used in the official history. Bruce made 7 plus 5 sub appearances in 75-76, scoring three goals.
An assist for Alex Hartridge in Burton’s last game…I forgot he was playing for them now.
Aaron Pierre scores a 94th min winner for Eastleigh vs Truro.
Meanwhile Steve McGavin’s son Brett scores a 97th minute winner for Yeovil v Sutton
Everytime I heard Steve McGavin’s name, I keep getting a flash of “Shooter McGavin” from the film Happy Gilmore in my head! I have no idea why!
Keith Searle?
