Interesting, all that hair made it difficult! I should have known Alan Mayes, I worked with him on the club’s lottery in his brief time at the club.

Alan Mayes’ daughter Michelle lives in Oxford and is an excellent singer; she plays in a band called The Deadbeat Apostles.

I believe Alan Mayes still lives in Downley.

In his pomp at Chelsea both he and Clive Walker resided in Downley.

Walker was quick as a flash in those days.

Flash indeed

Keep all this wonderful stuff coming Borgoff, being of a certain age it brings back wonderful memories of growing up with my football mad dad - we lived in Acton back then and went to most London clubs to watch matches (Dad supported QPR,Grandad Supported Brentford, Uncle supported Chelsea, Nan supported West Ham !!) Thankyou for taking the time to post this stuff

64 - 76 for me - shipped out when Ken Livingston sold the promised land of the Britwell Estate to my parents !!

I lived in digs (showing my age) on Westbourne Avenue for 2 years from 78-80.

Colville Road - just off the Western Avenue, we could walk to Loftus Road in a few minutes.

Defeated Britwell Rockets in the semi final of the Slough Combination cup in 1980 as a junior. Never an easy place to win in those days. The changing rooms and facilities had been burned down the week before. We had to change in the cars, before defeating the Rockets 4 nil.

How much did Red Ken pay your parents to live in Britwell at that time ???

Yeah - sorry about that, any building that could be burnt down, was burnt down !!

By time my parents realised they had been “duped” by Red Ken it was too late so they made the most of it !!

My get out was visiting another one of my uncles in Lane End, he was a massive WW supporter, I really looked up to him and the rest is history, Wycombe became my team and I enjoyed the experiences at Loakes Park with my uncle more than anything else

2 players in this photo with WWFC connections, one who had already played for the Wanderers, and one who went onto play for WWFC. Who are they ?

Dave Bassett in the middle row?

Kevin Tilley second from left, middle row?

Well done Mr Frank and Mr P, Its quite an understated fact that Harry Bassett made 17 appearances for WWFC in 1963.

Kevin Tilley was almost an ever present in his only season at Loakes Park in the 84/85 team, i thought he was a decent right back, but the step up to the conference may have been to much for Kevin’s ageing legs at that stage
