Former WWFC Footballers

I don’t recognise him in the photo but is it Trevor Aylott?

Not Trevor Aylott

Is that a young Ray Wilkins far left bottom row?

No but his brother Graham is in this photo. I can remember Butch’s other brother Steve playing against the Wanderers for Hendon in the early 80’s.

It won’t be easy to identify the missing player ?

Did Barry Silkman play for Chelsea?

No Barry Silkman did not play for Chelsea. Clue: The mid 70’s was when this player represented the Wanderers.

Geoff Anthony, in the track suit far left?

No, I’m not sure Geoff Anthony would want to be mistaken for Dario O’Gradi !!

Alex Samuel scores for Partick.

Now he’s scored his second,2-0.

Aye, two in five minutes. I bet they love him up there.

The answer to the photo quiz, was this chap bottom right of the first row.

It’s Mick Sorenson who made 7 Isthmian league appearences for the Wanderers at the beginning of the 76/77 season.

Former loanee Tony Craig retires from football

No idea what he’s saying but seems like the usual filler - “great to be here” etc.

Westy has been a mainstay in the fledgling campaign, with his Valerenga side sitting fourth in the league after four games (W2, D1, L1).

He’s yet to score or make an assist from what I can gather.

Over 850 games played from Tier 2 to Tier 6.

Loved by every club he’s been at.

Hats off to Tony Craig.

Sad news that ex Colchester midfielder Nicky Smith has died of cancer at 57. He was a real thorn in our side. I posted this in the ex player section as Smith actually signed for us in the summer of 94, and appears in the team photo. But he never played a competitive game for us, and left within weeks of signing.

Played for them during the early 90’s. I never knew he signed for us and never played. Top info

What’s the bigger time capsule? Coach travel to northern Europe? Playing a Combined Services team in a friendly? A player unable to afford the move to High Wycombe?

We still had long term injuries to key players at friendlies at Chesham at least.
