I feel like we had a game postponed, last season maybe, because our opponents had recently signed a player who was then called up having NEVER played for them (making their third call up).
Anyway I found this rule for U21s .
For U21s call-ups, players need to have started either three of a Club’s last five matches, or 25% of a Club’s games all season in order to count towards the number required to call a game off.
A good loan might help his chances of staying. If he was the trialist who scored in both their friendlies then that’s a good sign. If its just a short term loan and he keeps that up, he’ll get a chance with Duff before the end of the season to prove his worth. But it’s all up to him to make that happen.
An omission from the country of his parents’ under 21 squad when he’s over 21 should not be seen as too much of a snub. Certainly not comparable to Boyd-Munce’s ridiculous Northern Ireland omission.
He’s still U21 according to the rules even if he is now O21.
I think only one of his parents was Welsh, the other Irish, being born in the wonderful Channel Islands does leave him on a limb internationally though.
Can highly recommend a week in Alderney in late June if you want something unique and out of the school holidays
