January window - go/stay, sign

I just searched the word “Leahy” on the Reading forum and couldn’t find a recent rumour.

It’s possible they’d try for him, of course - COTN says he’s out of contract in June.

But you’d imagine that, as an ever-present in the squad this season, we surely must be working on an extension to that contract.

Given the shortage of experienced leaders in the squad, Leahy is valuable over and above his contributions on the pitch

He might not want to stay and prefer to get out of this madhouse. He might also like a new challenge.
Even if we offer him a new contract, another club may offer him a longer contract, big signing on fee and/or higher wages.

He’s certainly more likely to want to stay with Duff, than he was at the start of the season.

Devil’s advocate - I wonder what the wage parity is between pre-OG signings and contracts compared to post-OG. If Leahy is on an historic contract and cannot negotiate close to parity with his peers, but Reading/AN other offered something halfway, then at 33, he may well decide to go elsewhere in the summer.

I did a search for “Fred Onyedinma Reading” and just got a photo of him engrossed in War and Peace.

With Grimmer out for sometime, Leahy is more important than ever. We need his leadership.

Seems to be very quiet window this year. Even ‘wild rumours’ are thin on the ground. I’m thinking of making some stuff up just for shitz. Where’s our ITK people?

Why would we let Leahy go anywhere? He’s played the most minutes of any Wycombe player in 2025 and he’s started pretty much every league game for Duff. Utter rubbish rumour. Nonsense.

Problem is we need the armchair supporters to come down and mid table won’t float their boat.

Even plenty on here only attend a handful of games. Face book group has 7000 members I wonder how many of them are there on matchday.

Can’t imagine Leahy is any more likely to sign for Reading than I am.

Tilley being ‘actively chased’ on loan by a number of clubs according to the usually reliable Pete O’Rourke. Good news.

Why is that good news?

I genuinely believe until 1 or 2 go we have too many players now considering we have an academy. Only place we are short of players is out wide and up front.

Not numerically short of goalkeepers but we are short of a quality number one

why is it not good news?

we need a number 6, if fans/club dont see this then we are lost course

GK- Not good enough but will do

RB - Huggins - unproven

CB- we are good

LB- we are good

Number 8 - good

Number 6 - We need and vital

Number 10 - have Lowry but need more

Number 9 - could cope to end of season

Wingers- ok but could do with cover

Because he has hardly played. I have heard rumours that he is a bad egg. Even if this isn’t true Duff obviously doesn’t rate him so we are better of letting him go out on loan. This saving is some money and also thinning out the squad that is too big. The extra money could also help towards a player that will be good enough to get in the first eleven.
