I passed the training ground yesterday evening and they’ve definitely graded the entire grass area now. There is also a huge pile of topsoil ready to be used. I wonder when we’ll be find out who is going to be using it?
The first team squad are returning to use it big issues with the current training ground as the deal is not as good as thought. So basically with all the money we invested on undersoil heating which we thought was for our sole use turns out is being used by non wycombe teams which wycombe complained about but turns out we have been sold a lie.
First team squad to return to upgraded Marlow Road (early morning commute benefits), academy to stay at Harlington (transport access to London talent pool) would be logical I imagine?
@BookerBlue not sure we were ‘sold a lie’, QPR experienced contractual caveats I believe which gave pitch access to Imperial Collage at times that compromised squad training. Perhaps such clauses remain fundamental to the freehold?
I know that he appeared on the scene as part of ‘The Ownership Group’ when the Harlington deal was in its infancy, so it’ll be interesting to get his take on the deal once the return to Marlow Road is officially announced.
Imperial College has over 20,000 students so their sports ground must have considerable use anyway..
They must have very astute staff able to get football clubs to use it on their terms and to pay for improvements. I believe Wycombe are the 3rd club to find the arrangements to be unsatisfactory
That is not correct. There’s a vast difference between academic law, as taught at Universities, and practical law, as practiced in real cases in real courts.
There’s no way that Marlow Road can be a long term option for the WWFC first team. So it does seem odd that they seem to be spending a lot of money on the site. Unless it’s the Wycombe hub of the academy, something that is apparently in the pipeline.
Relaying the entire pitch/grass/field surface it looks like. It’s somewhat impractical to stop and photo unfortunately due to the busy roads and lack of footpaths.
I’ll try and get a drive by photo next time I pass and not the driver.
