It’s not even the stupidest goal we’ve given away to CHARLTON this month.
You’ll get slaughtered for posting this

Meanwhile, the table for 2024 (yes, I know you don’t get anything for calendar years, but this is exhibit A for those who think we had a “brief” purple patch.)
Meh, we’ve been mid-table for months since Bloomfield (and Aaron Morley) left. First 23 games, 50 points, 47 goals, +24 GD, 1st on NYD (Morley’s last game). Last 23 games, 34 points, 23 goals, +1 GD, finished 5th. Who’d have thought forcing out the club legend, charismatic, young attacking manager and replacing him with someone with zero experience and little charisma would’ve been a bad move. Or not buying an incredible player who made the team tick and was available, but didn’t fit the ‘data’ model (and instead buying two randoms from Denmark for nearly 2 million pounds who made zero starts in the second half of the season) would have been a bad idea. We are not ready to go up until we sort out a fair bit behind the scenes first.
The squad is going to look radically different next season, which is worrying if we have such a poor window again. I think Dodds has 10 games next season for me, not necessarily to be right up there, but just to play some more progressive, passing football or he’ll be out. I’ve thought it for many months that Bertelson would come in in October and i still think that.
You seem to be arguing against yourself? Who is saying we had a brief purple patch?
Bloomfield was awful at the start ( should have been sacked probably) then he was great. Then he left.
No obe can argue otherwise, and not sure they are.
After scoring 82 goals and conceding only 48 in 45 games why on earth would a new manager think the first thing he needs to do is get his team to tighten up?
I’d forgotten how good we looked basically as soon as Lubala, Kone, Londwijk and a handful of others arrived.
You seem to say we didnt buy Morley due to him not fitting the data? You seem to say it like its the truth? Surely your just making that up ? Unless you do actually have details on the negotiations?
Besides trying to restart an argument. What is the point of this post?
We didn’t buy Morley because Bolton put a ridiculous asking price on him as they realised how good he was and didn’t want to sell him to a promotion rival. I don’t understand why so many fans still mis-represent this.
There are many things to point the finger of blame at Rice for this season. Not signing Morley isn’t one of them.
I think Dan Rice would be wise to hold a fans forum , acknowledge that he made mistakes with the January signings , apologise for those mistakes and promise to learn from them and commit to working with Mike Dodds during the close season to identify who to bring in, who to let go and build a team for next season.
I thought that was the likely case, they used us to get him back ibto shape and said thanks a lot.
But people speak with such confidence.
Most likely to reel you in. Why do you always take the hook???
He’d be out of his depth in a paddling pool.
I think this would be quite hostile
Interesting to hear from posters who have been screaming for Rav over Norris for weeks. Rav bottled it. Should have taken the ball , then the man. Afraid of getting hurt.
We have to give Dodds time, none of these players are his, he will be judged after 10 or so games next season.
Next season
Kone and Low gone
loans returned
Humphries, Taylor, Simons
Get rid of.
Franco, Leahy , Bakinson, Gmac
Keep.
Udou , Sads , anders , Westergaard , Grimmer, Reach , Harvie , Sonny, Back,
My worry is that, Morley aside, MD took much the same team that were playing so well and made us struggle. Perhaps Bloomfield and his team WERE lucky, and we were being found out, but a more ‘experienced’ coach with a large staff made us look leaden, slow and a pale shadow of the early season. Bradley and possibly Reach aside, the new signings have struggled. I will be interested to see a Mike Dodds side next season.
Hopefully he has learned a lot from this baptism of fire.
Travelling fans were superb.
