Match Day Thread : Huddersfield

Is it like ice hockey where blocked shots (i.e. player not keeper stopping it) don’t count as “on goal”?

Rather a lethargic display I thought, Huddersfield certainly looking the more likely to score.

We did at least put them under pressure towards the end of the half, which we can hope is a sign to come. Simons looking our best player.

We got the ball forward a bit quicker. I imagine that must be because Huddersfield looked very solid when given time to get set behind the ball when we played them at home.

I can’t see it ending 0-0. Reasonably open game and a draw isn’t much use to either side.

The ‘control’ gameplan in full effect – always get it back to Norris to start the move, never from defence or midfield. Seems strange - I guess the logic is so that all our players have time to get back to their positions but it just slows down the game and lets Huddersfield get back to theirs too. I suspect we’ll see another 30 mins of it though.

Sad to say but Kone is no longer looking like a £7m player. And Joe Low can’t get into the team. Wonder if we’d have been better selling both in January and spending half of that windfall on Morley + another striker.

Sadly, we would just now have four Danes rather than two.

An entertaining half but it’s quite staggering how different we are from the start of the season, heck even a few games ago. We seem to be lost in a fug of being afraid to step out of the system and dropped confidence.

Kone has been a shadow of himself, dropping into space vacated by Humphreys who is trying to do much. He’s lost that quick, pouncing play that made him so lethal. Leahy has got forward well but leaves us exposed. Even the defence which has at least been solid the last few months looks all over the place.

I appreciate games are coming thick and fast and Dodds can’t have had much time on the training ground. I’m up for giving him the summer as we saw how long it took Blooms to get things right, but it’s crazy how he came in on a wave of ‘I won’t change anything… it’s gone right so far’, yet he changes the formation every game - we have no clue how to attack. Also, for a coach so praised for bettering the game of players all over the country, it’s highly evident how not one of ours have seemed to improve at all in 2025.

Huddersfield look the most likely from open play - especially down Leahy’s flank where he’s been a defensive iability - but they can’t handle Taylor frpm Simons’ set piece deliveries at all. That’s how we’ll score if we manage a goal tonight.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this ends 1-0 Huddersfield and us starting to sweat on actually making the playoffs. Though to be fair, one more win should do it.

Play-offs nailed on. We’re even taking it easy in anticipation of them.

entertaining half ?? you watching the Wycombe game ?

Similar game to Huddersfield at home when we were playing well under Bloomfield. And we are playing better in this one !

Only 2 penalties not given, ref might be doing us a favour, the way we are shooting, we would probably miss

I can’t see us scoring again this season.

Grimmer and Leahy both having poor games, particularly the former. Good job our CBs are so solid. Still can’t put the ball in the net

Yeah, we’ve had a few decent-ish counter chances which is where I think we’ll get them if we score from open play. Is that the same right back who scored against us from the halfway line a few seasons ago? Could just be a similar Scandinavian name because it was at the end of the season and something I’ve tried to burn from my memory.

Now I am usually an optimstic sort of chap, but I can’t really fault selection or the system as much as the lack of team spirit. It could be me but there is more moaning, less congratulating and they seem to be playing with far less brio and excitement.
An undeserved 0-1 win please.
I wish we had paid out and bought at least one player for THIS season…

We don’t do any of the things that got us so many goals in the first half of the season. The two that we’re missing the most are the inventive set pieces and that diagonal run across the box that Cam used to do so often.

Funny you should say that, i was thinking the same, Humphreys, Leahy and Scowen are constantly moaning and in the refs ear, ive noticed it the last few games

Almost as if Kone is drifiting back to Step 9

Crying out for a right footed player who can cross a ball.
