Match day thread: Leyton Orient 8th Nov 25

Oh really, fair enough. Think the centre pair were fine today

I said exact same thing to a qpr friend the other day….he said he came in good but gone cold

I think maybe that Danish coach we never had was right about HagelskjƦr after all - he looks like a very decent defender, especially alongside a no-nonsense centre back like Casey. Leahy and Henderson are combining well in the middle, and the front three are playing exceptionally well together. Those scooped balls for Fred to run on to were very classy. For such a highly-regarded manager, I’m not sure why Wellens continued to play such a high line of defence - Beckles et al were left in the dust time and again.

I still remain unconvinced about Mullins, who was a passenger today. And I’m still not warming to Norris - van Sas seems to have more tools in his toolbox and should be given another chance now that Duff has got the defence playing with confidence again. Other than those two spots though the team is finally beginning to pick itself.

Thought it was a game of two defensive lines. We held ours brilliantly, constantly catching them offside. Theirs… atrocious. We played such a smart game of soaking pressure, passing it around the back, then springing the break.

Fred was outstanding, Leahy a real force in the middle, and Casey/ Anders exceptional.

Not sure I agree with the Mullins a passenger comment. Thought he was very good off the ball and did a lot of the dirty work.

Fred can’t have had as fun a day out for many a year

My son and I were saying the exact same thing earlier.

Also, whilst 750k and 500k are a huge amount of money for us, it’s probably not really going to get you Championship potential players.

I know they are strikers but Huddersfield spent about 5M on Joe Taylor and Dion Charles!

It’s remarkable how quickly our ā€œterribleā€ summer recruitment improved, isn’t it?

I’ve said all along that I reckon we signed quality in the summer. There are holes but Duff has done a far better job plugging those holes.

Is that a Luke Leahy cameo on 40 seconds?

yes I did watch the video for that long!

Yep, now the clowns running the show are leaving things up to Duff, we’re finally on the up. Shame it took so long.

I wonder why! I think Dodds has unbelievably managed to surpass Alan Smith and Tony Adams as our worst ever management appointment.

That was a really enjoyable game - both on the pitch and in the stands. It looks like we have our Wycombe back.

I still can’t get over how bad the Orient defending was for the first goal

Just got back from the game….they closed the Vere bar about 3.45..? That aside thought we were excellent. Might be controversial but thought that was the best game I’ve seen Fred play for us. Two goals but even more impressive was his defensive work, always tracking back and supporting the defence and making himself available on the break.
A few really good cross field balls from Anders and co during the game really had Orient worried at the back.
Good day (except the closing of the Vere at 3.45) and now out for a couple of beers and a cuzzer…… oh hold on it’s only half four…..I hate early kick offs… COYB!

Bit of neck touching, but i’m guessing no-one cares when we win!

Posted this on the mom thread by mistake….but was a defo red for their keeper. (not that it mattered).

Suggestion for a new song. OK Fred, now you’re a Wanderer… (to the tune of OK Fred by Errol Dunkley). I can’t believe I didn’t think of that before.

What a difference a decent Head Coach makes. Certainly getting a tune out of the same players that Dodds had. Many of whom, many supporters, me included thought were not up to it. Just wished Rice hadn’t left it so long to sack Dodds. We cannot lose too many more games to challenge for the playoffs.
