Match Day Thread: Peterborough 24th Jan 26

he has had 6 chances in last 105 mins, don’t call rbat ineffective, how many chances has shitrow had ? we should have gone out and got a Marriot …again another example of how poor the recruitment team have performed

I think he had less than zero.

I wondered that myself.

Unless there’s another definition of “effective” that i’m unaware of, Fink cannot possibly be labelled effective, and is arguably one of the least effective strikers we’ve seen in a long time.

Not sure you can say failing to hit the net from a perfect cross 6 yards out is unlucky either.

However, maybe it’ll turn when he plays a few more 90s back to back.

He’s not going battle to win balls in the air. Or run. Or try to hold the ball up. Or tackle. Or create space. Or run. Or hit the target. Or put some effort in. Or run.

I’d love to see the list of things he is going to do.

I think we may be relegated if we have to play Fink any more. I would rather have Trevor Aylott up front.

We’ll have Fred to come back in soon, that’ll help things along.

Can’t see us getting relegated under any circumstances, but it’s hard to see us putting the consistent run of back to back wins in that the playoffs will need.

So frustrating as the league is properly duff this season.

We really must get some quality up front and very quickly. I am surprised that Michael Duff even lets Fink anywhere near the matchday squad. We had Kone and Udoh and now we have Fink and Woodrow. We are going backwards very quickly.

It feels a long time ago that we had 6 options that were basically interchangeable without much drop in quality - albeit Kone was obviously first name on the sheet.

They’d have known Kone was off, and brought Fink in. That would have left a Junior - Fink - Fred combo.

Roll on a month and they quickly realised they’d massively left us short, and brought Bell, Woodrow and McNeilly in!

But with Fink it’d be interesting to know if their mistake was 1)Expecting him to be a big player on day 1 or 2)Not expecting him to hit it day 1, but leaving us woefully short of other options.

Can’t for the life of me figure out what Stig Westergaard was on about when it came to talking about Wycombe fans actually trying to support a young player coming over to the Uk and trying to play for us.

I agree with @NewStyleOfPlay - spot on. I watched Beaconsfield last week v Leighton and both centre forwards on display offered much more than Fink. He doesn’t run, doesn’t challenge in the air, is useless on the ball and doesn’t score.

Cool story. Bet he’s really motivated to do so when the fans have written him off already.

Do keep up..he’ll score the goals… at some stage

I can’t see why we’ve signed another player in midfield to do a similar job to those we already have. I’d rather see us play those actually on permanent contracts with us.

We clearly need some forwards. As soon as the team sheet came out it was obvious we’d struggle up top for lack of pace and so it proved.

I thought Fink did OK but the only way to find out if he’s really up to it is giving him a run of 4-5 starts. And like most centre forwards, he needs some pace around him.

We have simply seen enough. All of us probably haven’t got any professional qualifications to judge our players but we have watched football for a long time and we know a good player when we see one. Fink isn’t good.

Ah so it’s a few people writing on the gasroom that’s the problem. Got it.

Didn’t Harris show offered enough to answer that question today? We don’t have anyone who breaks the lines and arrives late in the box like he does. He’ll offer goals as well.

Didnt say any of that did I?

I think there is a few people writing on the gasroom that have a problem. But Fink isn’t really it.

The only small disclaimer today is Fred wasn’t available and Junior has it all to do to be as effective as him.

It makes sense with Fink now to simply play him a lot. If it brings his strengths out, brilliant, if it doesn’t we’ll know that by the summer.

Harris was ineffective and offered little

As long as people at the ground get behind him, which as far as I can see they are, that’s the main thing.

The whole point of forums is to discuss the football. There’s no point trying to paint a false impression of what we’ve seen so far.

However, it’s fight or flight now. Play him everyweek and see how it goes.
