especially now Morley is here permanently
I suspect the Morely arrival will allow Luke to recover from having to play through the pain.
Fully expecting to see Morley start and Leahy on the bench or not even in the squad tomorrow.
Is Leahy carrying a knock?
Thought he was having injections to play through an injury. Am sure I read it on here somewhere or maybe club website.
It will be interesting how Leahy fits in at all going forward when everyone is fit. Let alone just monopolising the set pieces.
Morley, Scowen, Hendo youād think would take some keeping out.
But thereās also Leahy, Boyd-Munce, Mullins and Harris too. Though maybe we can start one of them wider if we play a 4-3-3.
Quite simply, I donāt see how he features as a starter once Henderson and Scowen are both back.
Iām also deeply worried about Allen as I think heās going to have a battle breaking in as well.
But these are awesome problems to have.
There are always injuries and suspensions. If Luke has been playing through the pain, itāll be a good chance for a rest.
Allen is a brilliant squad option to have, depending upon the defensive formation we want to play. Can even be successful in a midfield role when required. I see no reason that he would be moved on.
I like him in midfield. I have a vague recollection of him playing left wing at one point this season, maybe thatās the plan.
Tomorrowās line up certainly interesting. You donāt normally expect new signings to go straight into starting eleven. But on this occasion surely Morley does - presumably for Leahy or Boyd-Munce.
Iām anticipating the following starting XI tomorrowā¦
Norris
Grimmer - Casey - Hagelskjaer - Harvie
Morley
Leahy - Harris
Armando - Woodrow - Fred
4-1-2-3
Subs: van Sas, Taylor, Huggins, Allen, Boyd-Munce, Mullins, Fink
CBM will be terribly unlucky to lose his place tomorrow after his last two games. I do feel Leahy will be rested. But who knows.
Thatās the team I have but CBM instead of Luke.
Morley.
Plus 10 others.
Having thought clearly about it, my team today would be as follows:
Norris
Grimmer, Casey, Hagelskjaer, Allen, Harvie
Morley, Boyd-Munce
Onyedinma, Harris
Fink
I would expect Duff not to play this side or formation!
I would play Fred as the striker. He would benefit more from Morleyās accurate passing than Finkās would with his lack of pace.
I donāt think thereās been a better example of 2 strikers luck being in or out than Fink and Woodrow.
Both strikers are able to get in the right places at the right time for goal opportunities (although Iād argue Fink is slightly more as Woodrow tends to drop deeper) but one player gets a lucky ball across goal from a defender that results in what was almost a tap in (albeit it it came to Woodrow quickly on Tuesday), whereas Fink canāt buy a goal at the moment and even when he did score, the ref chalked it off incorrectly early in the season.
As sliding doors moments go, I do wonder how different things would be for him if that had been correctly been awarded
Or, the good old Christmas tree formation with an extra midfielder instead (or Allen just pushed forward a bit - or Leahy instead of allen)
You can drag his former stats up as much as you want. Itās what he is doing for us now that counts. As far as goals go ( or even shots on goal, that are close ,or really test a keeper ) He is poor.
He headed into an open goal against Wigan and that was 1 goal in 14 games. He may offer other qualities but scoring goals isnāt one of them. The other thing he lacks is pace. Thanks got we have Lowe coming.
The final sentence of the three is about this season.
