Match Day Thread: Reading 23rd Aug 2025

How do you know we’ve spent 10m?

I’m not Dodds in or out shake it all about.

What knobs mid game sing we want dodds out. Funny they don’t sing anything else….

Common sense. Look at our training ground development. Our academy. Our first team signings. Our annual accounts from years gone by. Etc.

He believes in what they’re doing 100%. Still.

We managed to salvage a late draw at home to a team with 8 kids 23 or under that aren’t allowed to sign players for money after spending 6 months and £4 million with this coach.

It blows my mind that he’s able to talk it up like it’s not a major embarrassment.

I’m going to shock you and disagree with you.

As good as Mullins is, I think he is far from the finished product and is only going to get better and better.

I would say he is good league one level and will go much further.

Sorry thought you were referring to the playing squad

What the fuck do you expect him to say?

“I’ve spent all summer trying to instill a system into the team with 12 new signings all looking to settle in the club and the system, but fuck it, after 5 games I’m giving up and we’re going to change everything again.”

Give your head a wobble.

What’s worse, is that I hear from my Reading pal, that they rate us by far the worst team they’ve played this season.

Something else. Anything else. Literally anything.l at this point.

Saying the same thing every week doesn’t instill confidence that he’s learning or will ever improve.

You’d lambast him for changing his tune.

You’d lambast him for sticking to his principles.

You just don’t like him and will find reasons to have a pop.

I think that’s a fair assessment

Glad grimmer made it clear what he thought today when fans turn up not supporting the team. Regardless of Dodds in or out shake it all about. Leave turning on the manager till the end of the game.

Duh. There’s a million things he could say that aren’t either of those things. Idiotic post.

Yeah there is. And you’d find something wrong with that as well.

I’m glad the older heads on the terrace shouted down those utterly pointless chants during the game. Sing your hearts out for the lads indeed.

Nobody is searching for reasons to dislike him, most people like him, they just think he’s out of his depth..and there’s no need to search for reasons while the results are consistently horrible.

Are you a bit tapped? He could have given an honest assessment, like, “there’s definitely a lot of things we need to work on, defensively we’ve conceded two goals that we really shouldn’t have done. But at the other end we’ve scored two good goals to be proud of.”

If we want change, we need to be vocal about it. Good on those who made their thoughts clear during the game and shame on those who shouted them down.

Absolutely not. I’d applaud him for saying anything that made me think he’d learnt something.

I’m not goimg to pretend I want him here. He waa shit at Sunderland and has been a disaster so far.

That said, if he actually said something that made me believe he’d learnt something and would improve I’d cut him some slack.becausr saying “I know we’ve managed 3 draws in the last 11 and are now sat in the relegation zone afyer a spend any former Wycombe manager would dream of, but I’m changing nothing, even though it’s not working.” just seems like trolling us.
