Match Day Thread: Wimbledon 4th Jan 26

Just been down to the ground to try and get into the club shop. Can confirm it’s not bad weather at all, a bit cold, but nowhere near our top ten worst. We’ve played in far colder conditions, with worse snow and ice, and still gone ahead.

Macclesfield at home. Dagenham & Redbridge at home. Supporters clearing snow. Minus five against Pompey in the FA Cup last year.

We hardly ever call games off, so I’m not sure why anyone thought this one would be. By Wycombe standards, today’s a six-pointer. Should be winning, heart says win, head says draw.

COYB

Is Mullins injured then? If he isn’t then he would start in place of Lowry for me, otherwise I am with you.

Lowry needs minutes, he’s our most naturally talented player. His decision-making will only improve with game time and age. With Westy injured, Abbott, Scowen and Hendo all out, and Leahy carrying a niggle, there’s never been a better chance for him to start today.

Doh - you’re right - totally forgot Mullins and I agree he would be favoured ahead of Lowry. Have edited the post.

Lowry is talented in attack but to me gives the ball away too easily, which is dangerous at the best of times, but even more so in a 3-man midfield.

I’ve a sneaky feeling that Fink will start today.

Wimbledon are super direct and in poor form so I suspect will try and disrupt the game and turn it into a battle where possible. Probably a sensible ploy for any team given how weak we are in any sort of physical contest.

That sort of game might be a sensible one in which to give Fink a start.

Morley’s not in the Bolton squad today.

Just saying…

Careful around Adams Park, they’ve gritted sparingly, it’s still slippy.

We don’t have a great record against the Wombles. Draw I reckon.

Scrappy 1-0 win that hopefully doesn’t involve any injuries will be just what the doctor will want to have ordered, I hope.

I’ve seen at most half of the games in which Fink has featured.

However, other than an admittedly very well-taken header v Gills, where he outmuscled a defender, I’ve seen no evidence that he is either suited to or inclined towards physical battling.

What I have seen has been mostly half-arsed loping around the pitch, refusal to press or chase lost causes…which I can’t imagine goes down well with Duff.

I think the polite term for such a style is generally “languid”. Other less polite terms are also available.

Misunderstood, generational talent.

Exactly this isn’t it.

It’s usually a tough attritional game against what is usually a horrible outfit on the pitch and more than a few horrible fans.

No, you don’t have to do it in advance. Jack Frost will take care of that during the two hours you’ll be sitting outside in the lovely fresh air.

Seriously though, there is the option of watching it in the warmth of the Caledonian Suite. Power cuts permitting.

This is Adams Park remember. It will feel about minus ten

Sounds encouraging. The mood music would have dipped another notch if he’d been named in the squad.

Sadly, a mixture of the temperature and a terrible cold means I am relectantly missing a home fixture. Good luck everyone.

Anyone else watching the Bolton match. Just put it on and it’s not looking good for the Whites. Commentator is one of those you dread having to listen to. Epitome of monotonous.

Starting eleven same as when Captain Jack went off injured on Thursday.
