Matt Bloomfield Managerial Megathread

I’d suggest that Morley is exactly the sort of signing he should not make if he wants to have any sort of honeymoon with the delusional PNL fans.

Suppose when on the up, probably thinking more of a bigger club in a lower league. But yeah, not many around.

Not sure someone who can’t get into the Bolton team will keep the fans happy. If it wasnt for his spell with us, not sure there would be a clamour based on form.

The main way you’ll get an on the up club midtable is when a higher division team poach their manager.

But like Doddsy showed that is no guarantee of even short term success.

Even Keith Scott played for Col Utd late doors in his career.

In an industry like football you simply have to seize the opportunity where there is one.

But Blooms knows how to get the best out of Morley so I think it’s a no brainer to sign him.

don’t know the oxford squad but they might not have a weakness in that department so signing someone just because he was good at wycombe doesn’t make sense

That’s the hope.

Plus as much of a game changer that he was for us in league 1, will he be as effective in the championship?

Shame Westergaard has just left or I’m sure he’d have been trying to sign him

He won’t be signing anyone. He’s a head coach

Wycombe Wanderers this time last year is the only one I can think of.

Bit of a come down from Manager then! I wonder if Poxford have made him feel as wanted as Luton did?

And here come the snide comments. Are you still completely unaware of what went on at Wycombe?

I think you don’t have to, just cause of money or opportunities arise, doesn’t mean you have to sell your pride/soul/standards, I know plenty of things I would draw the line at for a quick buck even in football.

But I do understand what you are saying, I think . “It’s just a game”

Ultimately, you have to question the sort of person who wants to make digs at a man who did two decades with our club. I’m glad I’m not friends with any of them.

Good luck to Blooms - hope he makes a success of it, apart from against us.

This is not a snide comment, but you can fight for what you love or even stick by it even if its not giving you love or respect back.

Mind you I know of one club who were going terrifically well and decided to allegedly effectively constructively dismiss a manager

This club then missed out on promotion which they might possibly achieve if they kept the manager who got them into the good position in the first place.

I’m not sure that PNL are in a position to shell out 500 to 800k due to FFP, and in the role that Cameron Branigan plays.

Thankfully I think Oxford are well blessed with decentish central midfielders - Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan and Brian De Keersmaecker are all better central midfielders than Aaron Morley you’d have to concede. So not sure he’d go there as a fourth choice central midfielder.

But, but, but I thought he didn’t want to be a Head Coach…
