Mike Dodds Stats

Loads of interesting stats flying about but one thing we’ve overlooked is numerology.

gareth ainsworth - 54 aggressive creative and loves luxury

matt bloomfield = 57 artistic creative and intellectual

mike dodds - 34 cheerful loyal and seeks answers

Numerology is bollocks, isn’t it?

Perhaps Dodds and Harry Hudson should swap jobs!

A few stats for the last 7 games so far…

A tale of two halves.

We must start games better.

Average tackles won only just over 50%. We’re quite good when we move the ball forward with confidence, but we really need someone to consistently win the ball in the first place.

Maybe this is my particularly poor understanding of Maths.

If we have total tackles won by Wycombe in all games as a an average = 50% then why would total tackles one by opposition be over 60%? should it not also be 50%.

Or is there a percentage for tackles where neither team really won possession…

I assumed it was 50% of tackles we’ve attempted, rather than 50% of tackles made in a game.

I was assuming it’s because in many ‘tackles’ someone already has has possession. So if our man misses a tackle, they haven’t won one..they’ve just kept the ball etc.

Or maybe someone can tell me that’s a load of bollocks :stuck_out_tongue:

cos it’s based on the team making the tackle and what happens after they do it.

success = you win possession or the ball goes out of play

failure = opposition retain possession

tbh - it’s not a very enlightening metric

thanks @oilysailor and @Floyd - 50% average is much better than our 20 something percent the other day

I disagree - there is a huge difference between winning say 10% and 80% of tackles made.

Although I’d like to see us actually making tackles to start with.

the point being that no one is ever up at 80+ or down at 10%

last season in the PL it ranged from Chelsea top on 63 to Ipswich bottom on 58, with an average of 59.8

Thanks for the clarification. Now I feel enlightened

Although I’d still like us to make more successful tackles.

Under Dodds we now share very similar stats for first half goals and for percentage wins with the internationally renowned Manchester United - a mark of how truly dreadful we have become.

Brilliant. Our manager matches one of the worst ever records seen in the top flight.

‘I don’t want to be outcome-based.’ - Mike Dodds

We could be in some serious trouble this season if this truly is the case.

How any professional manager can not understand results are the most important thing is breathtaking.

If he was the youth team coach, then yes, getting players improving and playing in a certain way would be more important, but not at senior level.

Where is the incentive to try and win games then? Players are going to be praised for being pretty rather than putting the ball in the net. Madness.

I suspect he can only hide behind that mantra for so long.

Marvellous. I might try being less outcome-based next time I go to the toilet..
