New shirt next season

The rules changed to stop them

I do hope Alan Smith is involved in the design. Worked so well last time out. 30th anniversary collectors item.

White shorts are great tho.

I can hear the PTB now…”Oh, they want history. We’ll give them history!”

Not if you’ve underestimated the effects of a heavy day of meat consumption.

It is a bit disappointing for sure, but someone said something in the other thread that made me think. Apparently is was a 5 year deal was signed with Hummel.

There was always likely to be a 1 year shirt at some point within that contract - because maths - and I would think they use that as the reason and we can all argue over the “real” reason depending on how favourable they feel towards the ownership structure.

I personally never felt that strongly for this seasons shirt. It fucked around with the quarters too much for my liking so I am not sorry to see it go.

I hope we are getting rid of the checkerboard green away shirt, that one is AWFUL!

There’ll be a new shirt each season going forwards. That’s the way it is now.

Yep, clearly this is the start of a new annual cycle of shirt changes. From a revenue POV you can see why the club may feel they need to do this, and it is the norm nowadays. But as ever with this ownership group, nothing is communicated or explained in a way that allows fans to try and understand (or heaven forbid, even support) their decision making.

Without sounding like that fella who kept saying how many of the gasroom actually go to games, it’d be interesting how many of the gasroom actually buy a shirt, or buy a shirt for kids etc.

Though the older we get the more we do love a moan about stuff whether it affects us or not. That’s the rule.

I should take this moment to remember the long departed old fella I used to get a lift with.

Would moan about everything and anything - yet if you even made ONE small moan he’d tell you to stop moaning. Brilliant.

The replica shirts are not for me - never owned a football shirt since i had to have one at school.

Hopefully they’ll chuck one in with kids season tickets again

Shame we haven’t worn the green one more. Love that kit

According to my stats, we’ve only worn the Green shirt 3 times. And not at all this calendar year. I’m questioning my sanity on that, as I could have sworn we’ve worn that kit more.

MD1 - Bradford 2 - 1 Wycombe

MD10 - Wimbledon 2 - 1 Wycombe

MD20 - Burton 0 - Wycombe 0

I don’t love the current home shirt either, but i’m not a kid who wants to wear what the players wear, or a dad paying for it.

I’d have the green one if they discounted it.

Personally I like the idea of changing shirts every season, it adds a bit of excitement to the summer, is a visual statement of a clean break from past disappointments at start of the next season, and means we’re not encumbered with dross kits for too long.

Having said all that, I haven’t worn a replica kit since I was a teenager. It must be pretty frustrating for parents having to kit kids out and, given sales will be the only motivation for switching, a very cynical decision by either the club or, more likely, the shirt manufacturer.

Perhaps the solution is sacrificing a big name, prestigious, shirt manufacturer at the end of the contract and moving to a small company like O’Neills that the club might have more sway over.

The green checkerboard kit would be great, if the shirt number was on a plain white square. Its unreadable on TV and surprised the EFL allowed it.

What do you mean? As a 45 year old over weight guy, I turn up to games in the full kit, drinking cider and swearing hoping they gaffer sees me and thinks “you know what, that’s what we’re missing on the wing” and names me in the team.

That’s the dream innit?

Also as a parent of an 8 and 11 year olds there’s a word I use for this situation: “No”.

Or occasionally “you’ve got a birthday/Christmas coming up, ask your grandparents they’re always asking for ideas”.

Can I also say in the clubs defence, they gave a way a load of kits to kids along with cheap season tickets. We have to remember that as cash in the bank in regards to “gouging parents with kids” with new shirts.

I do hope they run with that offer again and in which case it’s the adults that are the ones that should be able to decide if they want to buy a lift for themselves again.

Lift/shirt
Shirt/lift.

Clearly I need more sleep.
