Looks like Matt Bloomfield won’t be out of work for too long
Posh is a lot closer to home though
So my club is looking for a new manager (again). Matt Bloomfield will be in the running I should think. I would like your views on him, his management skills etc., what sort of style does he play what sort of players he tends to sign. Was he your manager who seemed to be hounded out of the club or did he go for a better offer?
I’m not sure anyone on here has any strongly held view either way to be honest
Matt Bloomfield is an exceptional human being. I would imagine Rob C would give him ample time to implement his ideas, which at Wycombe produced some wonderful football.
It was made clear to him after the sacking of one of his staff, just two days before we went top of League One last season with a 0-5 thrashing of Stockport that the temporary Chairman wanted to do things his way and Bloomfield was not part of that plan neither were his team.
The rest is history.
Bloomers knows Couhig and JJ better than any other manager as well as having lived in Reading for many years when he was a Wycombe player.
This must be nailed on, announcement tomorrow I suspect.
You have to think MB is in the running, and maybe Peterborough doing the deed yesterday has forced RC to react in the hope of not losing his (obvious) first choice.
Wouldn’t rule out him going for GA still either. Local to Reading doing a decent job at Gillingham etc
If Couhig wants a manager he has worked with before, have to say I would take Ainsworth over Bloomfield.
A lot of column A, maybe a bit of column B as a by product but not the reason for going.
You’ve no idea what you just stirred up here my friend. Thanks for that.
My money is on Blooms to Posh and Gareth to Reading…or not.
Sorry about that, Barney. Do I need to put my tin hat on, or just my ear defenders?
Only the biggest civil war in the history of WW. The survivors are only just beginning to emerge from the shattered remains.
Who knows, but I feel that MB:
a) may be an easier sell to Reading fans - GA, fairly or not, gets stigmatised for his style of play (which of course he can vary, but people don’t seem to accept that)
b) comes with the benefit of having to pay £0.00 in compensation
We know from experience that Rob C doesn’t just take the easy option for the sake of it, but I feel like this is MB’s if he wants it.
Yeah, you might be right. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
Rob’s lost his marbles if he doesn’t appoint Blooms tomorrow.
Seems like I will have to dig the full body armour out, then.
Bloomfield nailed on favourite. Will do a good job for Reading.
he probably appointed him yesterday
Blooms will be the top of the list of the chairman who seemingly hates having to bring in unknown quantities.
I get the impression that he would be a very underwhelming appointment for Reading fans, and, like at Luton, would be on the back foot with them from the off.
He no doubt has the ability to make a success of it, though he almost certainly won’t be given time by the fans (if not the chairman) should he not deliver results sharpish.
