Gareth won’t be sitting in a dugout for weeks, he’ll not get either job as he recovers from major surgery.
Only 1 point from last five league games since he had surgery

Yes I forgot about that, ok then I’ve moved my money onto Blooms (fictitious of course as I don’t bet).
Little update here from Dobbo. I’m not sure an early return is in the offing from the wording.
I hope he makes a strong recovery and we see him in the dugout soon.
I personally think Reading won’t be the best move for him. RC will give him as much time as he needs, far longer than the fans will. Also Blooms hasn’t proved himself yet to take on what is a huge job at Reading.
Yes he had our infamous purple patch, but he also oversaw our worst ever run not long before.
If I were him I wouldn’t take a risky job that could end up with the fans against him by Xmas.
As said before, aisworth over blooms any day, but that won’t happen.
Reading fans will want a statement of intent. Blooms certainly isn’t that.
Reading are now a Wycombe tribute act, whatever their entitled fans might think
Well that’s all football management jobs out then.
Who would want the Reading job though? They’re in a right mess and Couhig isn’t blessed with finances. Optically people will look at Reading and assume if you’re in 13th then you’ve done a bad job, merely because they are a ‘big’ club in this league.
My point is, they want results. Fast. Faster than a smaller mid/lower table or L2 club.
It’s not a “build” project. It’s a “hit the ground running” job.
Huge job as in, they’re not very good and need to get results. Big club still, but more that they’re in the poo
The only thing worse than having Blooms at Luton would be having Blooms at Reading. Someone needs to reset this simulation.
Well he’s done Col U and Luton , so why not Reading,Oxford and MK don(ut)s
Football Manager 2026 thread, mate
If he fucks up at Reading he’ll be doing Slough next.

The butchering of reindeer is appalling. Particularly in the run up to Christmas
Football management is a bit like the X Factor winner if it doesn’t work out you end up on the stage at Pontins with kids throwing chips at you while their parents get pissed on Carling.
‘Project’ managers are fast going out of fashion and I feel like an appointment of Blooms is a commitment to a 9-12 month rebuild. Not sure Reading fans will easily put up with the hardship in between. Many couldn’t stomach N. Hunt and he’s one of their own. MB probably does have enough credit left to have his pick of Peterborough and Reading, both attractive in different ways. But by ‘eck, he needs to choose wisely.
My Peterborough mate is saying it’s a toss up between Russel Martin and Michael Carrick. ![]()
Even more entitled than Reading.
Mr Reading.
And when that goes tits up it’s Wycombe Nose Club
