I have a little bit of a soft spot for Peterborough (possibly related to ease of travel and decent pubs) so I’d quite like MB to go there and be a relative success. I’d certainly prefer to not mind Peterborough winning to not minding Reading winning

After that incredible run, Gareth has lost 5 of his last 6 games and Gillingham are now back in mid-table. Reading supporters would have an absolute meltdown if he was appointed at the moment.
I suspect Bloomfield will be in the role by next week.
To be fair to GA he’s not had complete control of all team affairs for the the month or so.

You could well argue that the fact that Gillingham’s bad run coincides with Gareth’s health issue should enhance Gareth’s reputation not impair it. Realistically though it would be an odd decision to appoint him to a new job when he is seemingly quite unwell.
Obviously Couhig knows Bloomfield as both a player and a manager. We’ll see whether or not he feels he is a good fit.
Looks like the Peterborough job has gone elsewhere. Hard to see a better option coming Matt’s way. Not personally convinced Reading will either.

I would not rush back into a job if I were Bloomfield. Reading is a disaster club and Posh isn’t much better. Have a few months off Matt.

Surely if Couhig wanted an instant impact to get out of what looks like a really difficult relegation scrap, he’d appoint Ainsworth (admittedly, if fit for selection) rather than Bloomfield, whose project, on the basis of his managerial history, might be expected to take into next season to come to fruition.
