is that the game where Scowen essentially played like Pirlo?

Extraordinary performance

I think that was the first time I understood Scowen being played further forward and finally got Aaron Morley (yes, I was very slow there!)

When I think of Josh Scowen I think of this game. His reverse pass for Kodua’s goal is a work of art.

Burton Albion really pushed us in that game, which is why it was such a joy to win it.

Leyton Orient. P12, pts 11. Play-off finalists.

Orient had an horrendous start to last season having to play 6 of the top 8 teams before the end of September.

Not sure we can say the same.

We weren’t far off, actually (Bradford, Stockport, Doncaster - although they’ve since slipped - Mansfield, Stevenage, Wimbledon, Barnsley…) but of course I take your point… Our early fixture list wasn’t at all scary and should not have caused us the problems it did.

I wasn’t for a minute suggesting we’re going to be galloping towards Wembley, not in the Play-offs, the League Cup or even the Mr Clutch Cup - but it’s just interesting to see what a decent run of results can do for a team, even in the kind of position Orient found themselves in, a quarter of the way through the season.

You have to take your hat off to Wellens for turning it around and to Travis for not sacking him when they only had 8 points after 11 games.

I’m not sure we have the personnel to go on such a strong run. I would be over the moon at this stage with 10-12th.

I think a lot of Os fans would have said the same at this stage last season, though. Both they and their manager were pretty desolate after we stuffed them 3 - 0, I recall.

It was the best of days, it was the worst of days. I know it’s best if we avoid politics in here, but we can’t avoid the elephant in the room with this one. I was so happy following the 5-0 demolition of Stockport - then I stayed up all night and watched Trump win the election.

There are many ways to describe Trump; elephant may be the kindest.

Someone will be along to use the term ‘purple patch’ in a bit.

In my mind this was the game Kone scored a cheeky lob after a defensive mistake. It’s clearly not… when was that game?

The mauling of Stevenage. Boxing Day, I think.
