We weren’t far off, actually (Bradford, Stockport, Doncaster - although they’ve since slipped - Mansfield, Stevenage, Wimbledon, Barnsley…) but of course I take your point… Our early fixture list wasn’t at all scary and should not have caused us the problems it did.
I wasn’t for a minute suggesting we’re going to be galloping towards Wembley, not in the Play-offs, the League Cup or even the Mr Clutch Cup - but it’s just interesting to see what a decent run of results can do for a team, even in the kind of position Orient found themselves in, a quarter of the way through the season.
I think a lot of Os fans would have said the same at this stage last season, though. Both they and their manager were pretty desolate after we stuffed them 3 - 0, I recall.
It was the best of days, it was the worst of days. I know it’s best if we avoid politics in here, but we can’t avoid the elephant in the room with this one. I was so happy following the 5-0 demolition of Stockport - then I stayed up all night and watched Trump win the election.
