Rarely look at the Other Football thread so have only just seen that photo. Surprised that such a good aerial colour photo could have been taken in 1948. Am I missing something? Feeling I’m going to be embarrassed !!
Without listening it must be about his penalty miss when he took the ball off my brother in law who was the designated penalty taker at the time and club captain. The clock was on 94 minutes and scoring would have seen them promoted. Kevin was and still is Brentford’s record penalty taker with 19 scored from I think 21 taken.
Trotta missed and Doncaster then scored within 1-2 minutes meaning they missed out on automatic promotion and lost to Yeovil in the Playoff Final.

Yes, I think that’s correct. Looks like he’s got about 22 and at a higher level.
Kevin is still at Brentford after over 30 years at the club from 13 years old. Even gave up playing early to stay with the club and do his badges and move in to coaching. Never been at another club since 13.
Made his league debut against us too.

Well done Lincoln. Looks like Plymouth could be this season’s ‘sleeper’ team. Wouldn’t have said that after their rank performance against us in the cup.
Portsmouth v Oxford will be a huge game in 2 games time.
Oxford, today aside having a little run of form…3 wins and a draw last 4 (draw being a late equaliser against them), whilst Portsmouth are 1 draw in 6 and battered today.
Will be a tight one. Portsmouth have a game in hand but Oxford have the woeful Sheff Wed to play (1 win in the league all season)
At Canvey Island FC, this takes those Shoot cardboard league ladders, which I used to lovingly maintain, to a whole new level.

Those were the days Steve. Your post brought back loads of great memories. What a lovely simple life we had in those days, no internet, no mobile phones and very few computers. Those Shoot league ladders used to be brilliant.

Reg ‘Gunner’ Holt used to bring out the scores on a white board in the old Blues club at Loakes Park. It used to be hung on a hook on the wall, just inside the entrance. Everyone used to crowd round it, either oohs and aahs !!
