Perhaps MB will end up at Reading?
He’s done ColU, Luton and Oxford, Reading are certainly next on the list of ‘clubs i wish he wouldn’t manage.’
2 weeks since Scott Mitchell went, so im guessing, a new DOF is in who wants his own man,
With the Reading fans continually complaining about both their manager and Rob Couhig trying to turn them into Wycombe 2.0, Matt Bloomfield is the perfect appointment to see the fireworks we’ve missed without Rob!
Scott Mitchell was Head of Recruitment at Oxford, he’s joined Leyton Orient as Director of Football.
The timing does suggest some sort of connection though.
Surprising news. Thought it’d go like Luton where he’d come under pressure by Autumn, but not this early.
2 difficult jobs at clubs well on the way to relegation though. But the next job needs to be the right fit even if it’s league 2.
Maybe he will swap places with Wellans at Orient?
No disrespect to either MB or L2 but he would be better of going to an ambitious NL team and building a reputation there
I guess we’ll find out soon enough if Blooms had a better offer, or Oxford found a better option or they fell out with eachother.
I feel bad for Blooms but I’m quite relieved. It would have been awful to see him at AP as the Oxford manager.
Doesn’t look like there are any vacancies currently in the EFL - so he may be out of a job for a while
A quick search, so may be wrong. Doesn’t give them a DOF. But they had a head of Football operations. Who was on a management team with Mitchell.
Also, they appointed a new chairman in May and new management staff.
Its all got to be linked.
In which case, hopefully for him, MB has seen this coming and has something lined up.
A new chairman has come in.
Stepping down from championship to non league surely isn’t needed?
But he needs stronger odds than he had at his last 2 jobs.
Though The combined payoff must be eye wateringly decent.
We remain the club he has spent the longest period at as a manager / head coach. He spent just under two years as Wycombe manager / head coach.
I think he should take his time and have a break before looking for another job. He was probably on a 3 year contract at the PNL, so no reason to panic.
Imagine we’re 10 points clear at the top of League One at the end of October after a spectacular start to the season, then Duff is poached by a Championship club. Would you have Blooms back ?
I very much doubt he’d come back while Rice is running the show.
Maybe he fell out with the new chairman like he did with us. It will be interesting to see what the Oxford fans make of it.
No, that ship has sailed now @Gez6263
no , don’t think he would come anyway but coming back is not the right fit for us either .
