It’s not even Covid really, it’s successive governments trying to act hard by increasing sentences and extending laws as a response to anything happening whilst completely ignoring and underfunding the crumbling police and legal systems.
Life rather than 18 years for one thing, eighteen rather than six months for another pacifies a news interviewer but counts for nothing when someone is deciding wether to commit a crime and even less when the court case gets delayed for years or the evidence gets thrown out, or they have to be let out to let others in anyway.
You should be getting cuddly Joey to replace your boiler with a heat pump!
A decent summary @StrongestTeam and of course, locally generated hot air from Joseph would be better for the environment @Bayo
Spot on Strongest. Government by tabloid headline. I still have the jury out on this Government tbh - they haven’t had a year yet and they had a hell of a mess to clear up - but in truth not overly optimistic.
GA talking about Wycombe and Grimmer
Without wanting to derail another thread with mention of Matt Bloomfield, I do feel that this deserves a reference.
It says a lot about the man and ethos of our club that he spent 20 years at when you read about his gesture of travelling to Belgium to accompany his player home who had just lost his father.
Top man and top gesture
Don’t worry. I don’t think we’re completely banned from mentioning the B word.
I’d expect nothing less from Matty, looks after his own. Our loss is Luton’s gain.
Big fire at Kenilworth Rd tonight.

Against the people who paid and supported him for the last 15 years in the same division for some good ole’ US clicks.
Let’s make him play League one if he wants to go there.
That Luton gaffer’s doing a good job. Control and goals. Who’d have thought?
They did play for 50 odd minutes with an extra man
If that was our match today we’d be crying and crying about Dodds and Rice until the 91st minute… Bloomfield is gone, he isn’t coming back and we need to stop caring about him until we’re in the same league.
Wouldn’t want to be a horse in Bristol today……
Oh right. So it was a shite result really? Hmm.
I’m delighted for him and will be even more so if he seals the deal. A top bloke who served us well for two decades. If that’s someone we should ‘stop caring about’, well, says more about your character than anything else.
Okay maybe that was worded poorly.
I wish him the best, shame it was Luton, but we need to collectively move on and support the current management. Once Bloomfield turned good the constant comparison to GA and the previous regime seemed to die down. I’d prefer to stay in our lane until he’s a rival is what I’m saying, I’m sorry I offended you so deeply.
Sorry, you seem to have got yourself confused about my comment.
Where have I said it was a shit result, I was just adding to why the stats might be so one sided given that Luton played over half the game with an extra man.
Delighted for him personally that he’s clearly turned around a sinking ship, even if they still get relegated
Whilst I am pleased for Bloomfield that he has at long last got something akin to a tune out of Luton, it has zero bearing on our actual performances.
The nauseating sycophantic commentary on the Wrexam vs Charlton game is something to behold.
Even worse they have just scored sort of against the run of play
The circus is out a little too early…
Never mind it’s over lads.
