So do I, as you know, but we do have a five step “staircase”. Believe it or not I put a deposit down on an Acorn stairlift a couple of years ago but we both wanted to defer installation until absolutely necessary. A few weeks ago the company refunded our deposit. We still haul ourselves up, aided by a handrail installed in the ‘eighties by the redoubtable kit, groundsman and bucket and sponge ‘trainer’, “Jock” Sheppard.
