Assume he has a 4 match ban from this little tug fun, 3 match violent conduct and an extra game as it’s his 2nd red (first v us!)

I’m old enough to remember when it was a knock-out competition from the start, and you had to be actual champions of your country to play in it. Two european giants playing each other was an event. Now it happens a couple of dozen times a season, and I just can’t be bothered with it.

That was the problem wasn’t it? They had to put a stop to any chance of a big club being knocked out by some Nordic part-timers in a two leg match. Or an unfancied agricultural regional side knocking out Liverpool? :slightly_smiling_face:

So now there’s too many pointless but lucrative fixtures so we have to rip the guts out of the domestic cups in order for the players to rest.

I’d love to see those days again. 55 full UEFA members, so one prelim round to get to 32 and then a straight, unseeded, two-legged knockout from there.
The fans would love it and the money men hate it, so it’s gone forever.

Yep, the fact that it has ruined the FA Cup (not completely as the likes of Macclesfield remind us) because the high number of lucrative games means the FA Cup can’t compete, is another reason to hate the Champions League.

Can’t have that silly Norwegian mob Bodo denying the likes of glorious Man City making a few more tens of millions.

That would be glorious. Also for the first time ever, the word ‘Champions’ appearing in the competition name would be earned. But yeah, not ever going to happen.

Some think it’s a better format but it looks just to swell the total games, almost guarantee the usuals get through and minimises smaller teams getting near it.

Also warps the concept of a “league” by not playing the same teams home and away in the group stage.

I was at the Emirates on Wednesday for the Arsenal game against FC Kairat. A friend had a spare ticket so I thought “Why not?”.

It was okay and an interesting thing to do, but I enjoyed my Tuesday night at Adams Park more. And I think the atmosphere was better on Tuesday.

Winger Reyes Cleary touted to be joining Bristol City from Barnsley for big transfer fee. Could this open the way for us to get Sam Bell back again?

Just one red card at the end of Chelsea West Ham. Could have been three or four!

If this happens it would make a good window great.

Good lord. I have no idea what that’s all about, but I think he might be a bit upset about something.

I wouldn’t have fancied being the bloke interviewing. The meeting of the Independent Regularotory committee was on Friday about the Luton EFL trophy game and playing Ollie Clarke for the error in completing his seven match ban. If the meeting was on the Friday and one of the outcomes could have been him being suspended the following day then the manager should have been prepared for that. I think he just needs any excuse to have a moan as he does.

And this is before the other decision on the game is taken on fielding the player not on the team sheet which I reckon will see them kicked out and Luton taking their place. The devil is in the detail.
