Taylor and Bradley were our best partnership we’ve had in the last few years in my opinion.
And yet neither will be lining up for us next season. Low leaving to a League One rival is a big blow. We can’t lose sight of how superb he was for us.
Sounds like he’s set to be announced as a Huddersfield player in the next 1-2 days, whilst we now need at least two starting centre backs through the door.
Hopefully the noise around the Lincoln defender comes to fruition.
Joe Low was a shining light for us until a few months ago. Then it all changed.
The expression on Joe’s face at the end of the first leg of that wretched playoff semifinal against Charlton as he dragged himself miserably off the bench conveyed more than a thousand words and is, sadly, something that will linger long in the memory.
He deserves better and I hope he’ll be happy again and continue to have a successful career wherever he goes.
The first half of this season was excellent for Joe. He had the confidence playing alongside Taylor and they were unbeaten for most of that time.
The wheels came off from January. Injuries, Illness, New Manager, New Tactic, New Signings and talk of a transfer away from the club all played their role in the loss of form and he never seemed to recover. (Similar to what happened to Kone to be fair…)
I wish him well and hope that he’s able to push on and get what he deserves at his new club. We’ll have to dust ourselves off, get the scouts out and find a suitable replacement for him that another team has overlooked
I love Sonny Bradley but our best defensive partnership just last season was Low and Taylor.
TThe Swansea rumours dragged from December, maybe earlier, if reports in January where several weeks of talks.
He clearly wanted out, and wanted out, before any manager change. His agent likely leaking the Swansea stuff.
He was always going, so playing loanees ahead wasnt a wrong choice.
I may be wrong, but he seemed to have a few games unavailable due to illness, which doesnt happen much.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Seems like it would’ve been better for all parties if we’d cashed in during the January window and allowed Low his move to Swansea.
Correct. It’s not just about what they did defending the box. The pace and strength of both allowed us to defend on the halfway line.
You could say the same thing about Kone too (unless of course West Ham rumours at a higher price than available then are true. )
At the time I think few of us would have been happy to see either leave and you have to say not cashing in was a very positive sign of commitment from the new owners. .
You never like seeing players leave for tha club in the same division, but if he thinks Huddersfield is the best fit for him so be it.
He was one of our most consistent performers until January, he’ll do well there.
Kone was never the same player after Jan. We’ll never know if it was the change in tactic, manager or the off-field distractions that played their part but if he’s here at the 1st Sept, lets hope the only thought in his head is scoring goals!
Who would you have dropped to get him in the play-off semi-final team, @micra?
He refused a new contract and wanted to leave in January, so I don’t really understand all this clamour about him being unfairly benched.
We will never know.
hopefully he’ll be here on august 2nd
I was aiming for the end of the Transfer Window but if he’s here for the start of the season, that’ll help us for the first month!
Well then maybe he should’ve just been sold instead.
Bradley and Taylor much better in my opinion. Low had a great first half of the season and a massive threat in the box. Not as good a footballer though. Good luck to him.
Just seen that we may both be after Xavier Simmons who came in for you on loan from Hull last year after Morley returned to us. It says defensive midfielder so is that what he was for you, do you rate him and would you have him back? I don’t know whether it’s to be a loan again or on a permanent but I suppose it depends on the fee. For what it’s worth we’d take Low off your hands at the Reebok if he’s up for grabs. Classy player from what I’ve seen of him.
