Sorry, my inner @Chairboys80 came out then. I’ll have to have a long hard look at myself in the mirror
Rumoured to be the Posh.
First game this weekend cannot believe Taf/Butcher cannot be sold.
I wonder if each is staying for wages/wanting to force their way back into contention. If we cannot loan them out. I wonder if they will be used in the Pizza Trophy at minimum.
Be interesting to know how the players feel!
I have a feeling that the players haven’t found somewhere to go. Normally for a mutual termination agreement, it has to benefit more parties. The parent club need space in the squad / wages off their books and are happy for them to go and the player has found a new club, agreed a contract BUT the new club can’t afford any transfer fee. I have a feeling that Taff or Butcher haven’t found their next club yet and are unwilling to give up their wage until they have.
There is still plenty of time available in the window, we have no idea what conversations have happened between Dodds & player or club(s) and player.
It might be a difficult sell because they might not be fit?
Both are well out of favour for various reasons. Both players will only be available for a loan because no club is going to pay above and beyond what we are currently paying them in wages. Other clubs are waiting to see what other loan options are available in the market, mostly at PL2 level. Hanlan, Pattenden, Lubala etc. are much more in favour for various reasons, so they could move permanently. The loan market is always later in the window.
@frequentstander The 3 players you have named have already left us, either because they were out of contract (Hanlan & Lubala) OR sold (Pattenden)
Just seen this on Twitter
I know its a weak source for a rumour but we’ve had very little to feed off from this window!
Yeah sorry that was my poorly made point. The remaining two are much more out of favour for contractual / playing reasons. They’re likely to be loaned out and loanees move later in the window as they compete with PL2 loans which come later.
I guess it’s in their court over their next move and how far down the football pyramid they want to go (Or in Taff’s case, if he wants to stay in the UK?)
Perhaps MD has a plan.
Even if Taff and Butcher don’t get a move we aren’t obliged to name them in our EFL squad - it would be remarkably for us to be in that position, I know.
That then really forces the players hand as to what option they take - stay at WWFC just to collect the money for a year without any prospect of playing or find an alternative club.
Well it also depends on who has space in their squads too! If they stay, at least they will stay in shape and maintain a certain level of fitness whereas if they leave / take a Mutual Termination deal, they’ll need fund a way for them to maintain their physical condition
It’s a shame really. Taff gets injured a lot but I think Butcher still has something to offer.
Ryan Tafazolli will have no difficulty keeping in shape. His recent training video offering exclusive advice on how to maintain fitness without being part of a club’s preseason programme suggests that he will have no problems in that respect.
That is all very well but, against that, I’m not sure his overall fitness and availability over recent seasons would inspire great confidence in prospective employers.
When fit there are few better central defenders at League One level, especially when it comes to winning aerial duels.
Simon Moore (Sunderland, GK) being rumoured on Twitter. If this is the case, could be Norris is on his way out.
boring transfer if true , just keep Petit , where is Taylor and Connell ? lol
Good. Pleased to get Norris off the books if true.
your standards are so poor …. whatever you think Norris is better than moore….we know what we need and its not a back up GK …need Taylor and Connell not a number 2 GK …..uninspiring as it gets
Lived for many years in South Bucks/Berks borders.
When my brother in law had his testimonial season in 2010 I played 18 holes with Simon at The Buckinghamshire, nice fella and a very good sportsman and golfer.
Welcome to the club Simon.
Edit - Turns out its his brother Stuart who I have not met and used to play for Morecambe up to this week. Welcome to the club Stuart.
Presumably Norris wants first team football and this allows it effectively. I’m sorry that your day hasn’t been made.
