I’m clearly not Malone - he has a style all of his own. But it’s well known that you’ve brought height into many a discussion, I’m not the only person who has referenced it. That doesn’t mean it’s an obsession (I’m sure Malone was only winding you up if he said that). Height can be an important factor, but not necessarily a defining one. ‘Age profile’ and ‘journeyman’ are other factors that posters have suggested that weigh against this particular player. I just chipped in with my two-pence worth because a) I thought he played well against us last year, and b) it was nice of Glasshalfempty to throw in a genuinely random rumour into the “Rumour Mill” about someone I actually remember seeing play a few times recently, both live and on tv

Moved onto Chelsea within a year. Wonder if they’ll pinch any of our players.
If our staff are being poached by Chelsea that shows that the quality of our staff is very high. I would be concerned if our staff were leaving to join Forest Green.

I agree. I just think it’s strange that he’s gone from Brentford’s setup to our unique one, only to go back to a Premier League setup again merely nine months later. Something seems a bit awry.

I think it’s pointless in trying to guess someone’s motivates and intentions in situations like this. Even though it seems like we are offering a good package and an interesting project, Chelsea have a very secure youth setup & have brought lots of high quality players through into their first team. I’m guessing that he’s gone for more money, less responsibility and could be an easier life?

It seems unusual how few outgoings we’ve had this summer. Are players like Tafazolli not getting any offers? Or are they on so much at Wycombe that they’d prefer to see out their contracts even if they’re not playing. In which case, do we refuse them a place in the squad and try to pay them off - or are we so close to our FFP limits that that isn’t an option?
If he’s not a 20 goal a season striker I admit I cannot really work up the energy to be bothered about the reasons for his departure. I think we’ve got more coaches than midfielders…and we’ve got quite a few midfielders
