@Chairboys80 surely you acknowledge that Wimbledon were going for it and throwing players forward which led to them being wide open at the back. Ultimately that’s what led to Fink getting his chances. Chances which he really should have done much better with. Woodrow links the transition really well when he drops deep and has done well in his spell here. He’s also chipped in with a few goals and I’d say it’s highly likely he would have buried at least one of Finks chances.
I sincerely hope your Humphries @Chairboys80 is in fact the Humphreys who was such an excellent player for us during his loan spell here. I’m aware that there are at least two more players with that surname in the EFL but I can’t recall the exact spellings.
The position that Woodrow is playing, you wouldnt expect him to get 20 goals. In the 433, when it was working well, he dropped to allow space for Fred and Bell to get im and score.
In tge 352 he plays deep, with Fred running up top.
He isnt playing as a centre forward.
“Good with the ball”! Surely you are jesting? I watched him specifically at Peterborough, ,he was nothing short of a joke. Possibly gave the ball away more than found a team mate. I will admit to an improvement of late, in particular v Wimbledon when he came on.
He may have got into position but still missed. The one he hit the post on, it was easier to score.
Very politely put @micra. I’ve piped up before about people not spelling Cameron’s name correctly, there are several of you. Please be respectful to our former (and future?) players.
With all due respect to two of my favourite posters in @micra and @StevePeart, I’ve also piped up before that some people find memorising and repeating strings of letters a lot easier than others. So long as posters are conveying their meaning clearly enough, I don’t think it matters. It’s only an internet message board, after all.
Fair point @our_frank.
Oh…you mean spelling.
I R gree (actually I doughn’t). Tell me who isn’t mildly irritated seeing their name misspelt?
I knocked Huggins after the Cardiff game, but he was a lot better against Wimbledon could change from a miss to a hit.
Although I’m guessing Ben Fuckett may be getting used to it.
Think it was the second goal against Barnsley.
Woodrow reminds me a bit of Harry Kane in buildup. He likes to drop deeper, pulling a centre back out of place and then aiming to either lay the ball off or spin the defender and pass forward to a winger running into space behind him.
The trouble is, he doesn’t do the other bit that Kane does so well - getting into the box and putting himself in the right place to score goals. Of course, that’s one reason he’s playing League 1 rather than starting upfront for England.
He’s currently the best option we’ve got as a link between midfield and attack so Duff has rightly tried to play to his strengths. But I’d much prefer a conventional centre forward that can play higher up the pitch, ideally with he ability to both hold up the ball and run channels when needed. Sticking the ball in the net more often would be nice too!
Even Gareth signed a few misses. That lad we bought of Plymouth after beating them in the play offs comes to mind. Old age stops me remembering his name. One or two others too, I am not knocking Gareth btw but some players don’t work out at different clubs. This lad had a terrible attitude of our new group only Berry has come to light as having a bad attitude and maybe Tilley.
They were playing different positions pal
Myles Weston?
Jason Banton, I think.
Tom Williams?
That’s right.
Did ok against Spurs I think (or have I got the wrong one ? Left wing cross for one of our goals).
