I wonder if, following the last 18 months of significant outlay without much return, Lommy is keeping his powder dry and wallet closed for the first team for a while. There were rumours he was unhappy when Westergaard left so quickly, so perhaps that’s a reason.
I expect if we see moves, they might be quite late in the window like they were with Morley in Jan.

You know what, I was the first to say last season I prefer players in the building as soon as possible. But that didn’t work out quite so well last year.
And Gaz was the master of late window (or even after the window shuts) deals that turned out good. So I’m not actually that worried about the lack of signings yet.
And I’m probably distracted by the World Cup.

I have questioned them plenty in the past. Just speak out for them when I feel the critique is being based on rumours and conjecture ,or is unreasonably biased against them.

We’re not a traditional big fish but we are well heeled. It must be difficult to navigate those waters with players and agents, while staying true to whatever principles and fiscal rules we’ve set ourselves (or been set by the big boss). I imagine that means a few top targets will slip the net but equally it doesn’t mean we’ll be short of a signing or two. Hold your nerve, Ricicles.

Random thought - but isn’t it a bit weird we haven’t had any form of interview or comment from Duff. We’ve been back what 2/3weeks now. I’d have thought we’d have had a brief interview by now. Even if it’s just how his summer break was , aspirations for the new season, preparations, plans, transfers, erm or anything …..
We’ll get them once the pre-seasons start. Isn’t there a match on the 11th?
I just hope we don’t get an interview like last year when there was Rice, Stockwell & Dodds in a room. It felt very scripted and pointless (in my opinion)

I’d much prefer they all just kept their heads down and delivered - as they have been. We’ve had so much corporate nonsense from Rice and Stockwell in the last few years. I want us to fly under the radar. Similar style to Lincoln.
I’m not sure what people want. The strategy is obvious. This is a summer of little tweaks here and there.

Now we need to get some of the deadwood off the wage bill. Lowry out on loan. Fink out on loan. Van Sas out on loan. Tilley out permanently.
Then it’s a headline striker (Ings?) and padding out the depth in forward areas.

Yeah I don’t think we need too much. At most:
1 x right back
2 x No 10s
2 x left wingers
2 x No 9s
So no need for any panic at all.
When 3 of those will be starters and basically all of our attack bar Fred, that seems a huge amount of work to do.
In fairness to Rice etc.. they may have a corporate style but they also just do as you say - get on with it.
I would prefer this to the shallow promises and exaggerations of their predecessor.
They don’t over promise and only communicate when needed.
Fine with me. You only have to go on the Reading forum to see the frustrations regarding their owners actions not meeting his words.
