We didn’t really. Morley only arrived mid-season and Scowen wasn’t fit until the last month.
In the second part of the season we also had a weak defence and an even weaker goalkeeper.

CBM didnt really establish himself for a couple months. And Mullins waa young and raw. Its quite easy to see how they could improve.
But..how will the manager deal with them.
Okay, okay, okay …
I meant buzzer.
I think it’s another mid table finish as it stands
Will be Cook and Casey
Wycombe earned 7 points in the 7 league matches from Josh Scowen’s return from injury on March 7 until the end of the season. During that period all the midfielders were playing (though Henderson also being nursed back from injury).
I’m not saying our midfield isn’t exceptional. I’m just saying that alone won’t propel us to the top of the table.
The main reason for this was the absence of Casey and Hagelskjaer along with Lowe meaning our attacking options were limited. The abysmal form of Norris didn’t help.
My one worry with Mullins is he does give the ball away on occasion with a reckless or fanciful pass.
Attacking wise, I’ve watched his development and he’s going to be very, very good. But with the way we play football, and the team press forward, those mis-placed passes leave us wide open.
He’s only going to get better, but there is a chink in his armour at the moment.
It didn’t work terribly well for Thomas Tuchel.
There’s no reason why Morley and Henderson can’t play together.
Thank you for correcting my error!
You’re welcome.
As one of the resident pessimists on here I too expect a mid-table finish.
Given that I normally predict us to be relegated this is unusual heights of optimism for me!
The reason I am more positive than usual is basically Cook. I hope that his experience (and skill) will mean that a lot of the glaring errors that cost us so many goals last season will be much reduced.
If that happens, we will be fine and a comfortable, relaxing season awaits.
If however the forwards fulfil their potential we could have a very good season indeed and possibly make the play-offs.
I’m going 9th to 11th with current squad.
5-8th with a recognised League One or above striker
I have us as one of a large amount of teams that could compete for the playoffs.
But that’ll depend on Hazard and Cook making a big difference at the back and Tezgel and even Finky Baby having big seasons.
It doesn’t feel like we’ve done enough to be any more confident than that really. But we go in gently optimistic as Duff had us pretty strong at home before it crumbled late season mostly away with injuries and mad defensive howlers.
Our current squad is quite comfortably top ten and could be good enough for play-offs. If we get more in attack ambition can be much higher.
If we’d brought Lowe in, I’d be hyped. Maybe Tezgel could have a similar effect on us, but no idea.
I’m really struggling to understand why people are thinking a mid table finish.
Let’s look at the facts - we had a really poor start last season and after Duff took charge the form was comfortably play off form. We lost our starting two centre backs in consecutive weeks and had much weaker replacements. The Bolton game also fell in that second week which knocked the stuffing out of us. We’d been on a brilliant run, but the handicap of the start under Dodds meant we had no room for error. We fell away a bit but for the last 4 games there was nothing on it, we were done.
This was with a very poor goalkeeper who made constant errors, we have upgraded here for sure.
We have brought in Steve Cook, a very experienced leader who has lots of Championship experience last season, performing really well.
Henderson was rarely fully fit last season, we only had Morley for the last 3 months of the season, Scowen barely featured, CBM has now fully settled in and has improved hugely post Christmas. Mullins is older and more experienced.
GK, defence and midfield we are very strong!
We have a decent attacking line up, pretty similar to last season. I think we’re all hoping Fink will come good, but who knows.
Right now I think we’ll be looking to attack the play offs. Buy a real marquee striker and we could be looking to go for top 2, although I think that is unlikely as strikers like that don’t grow on trees and luck plays a big part.
Think Micah Olabiyi might have a Kone Breakout season
Tezgal is no worse than Lowe. Id say probably rated higher.
