Summer 2026 transfer window

We are not strong in the GK department with the Macey long term injury. We can’t rely on Van Sas.

My prediction is 16 16 16 60 60 as finishing table of results and goals.

Im a natural pessimist. But I would be disappointed if we dont make the playoffs. We were heading for the playoffs last season before it fell apart, hopefully we have the manager for the very good 20 ganes not the awful 10 at the end.

Tge squad is good enough.

Only if they add an extra team to the league

That’s extremely strange @Bayo even by your offbeat standards !

My feeling on play off push is based on what I think is the best midfield squad we have ever had, an (on paper) improved defence over last season and at least a equal if not better GK than last season (I don’t think Norris was as bad as people say, just that he and the whole defence we exposed due to injury)

The team last season was in play off contention until the end of season collapse after an awful start, and I see no reason why we can’t be in the same or similar position In Jan/feb as we were last season.

We just need to be able to finish the job.

I’ve not seen much of Tezgel to make that claim. But Lowe looked class last season despite being no where near fully fit and was top of Wycombe’s wanted list.

Brilliant post @Quarterman .

Other than concern about the wider impact of the long term injury to Matt Macey and the apparent injury jinx hanging over our central defenders (hopefully the injuries to Anders and Dan aren’t too serious) I felt super confident after the Portsmouth match (to reluctantly use that hideous American import) that we will spend most of next season in the top ten and more moderately confident that we will make the playoffs. The automatic slots are nowt but a distant dream.

My worry is with Skura gone we are a bit light at the back to sustain three cup runs and a push for top six.

At Stoke Tezgal was always rated as the better prospect. I think hes more of an all round player aswell.

Who at Stoke rated Tezgel better?

It’s fine to be optimistic and I’m hoping you’re right. But my analysis is:

Hazard an upgrade on Norris? Not really.

Cook an upgrade on Skura? Probably though I rate Skura highly.

Parker an upgrade on Huggins? Yes.

Thomas an upgrade on Bell/Vidigal? No.

Tegzel an upgrade on Lowe? Probably not.

I also don’t think Duff is much of an upgrade on Dodds - the form at the end of the season mirrored that at the start despite Duff having Morley and Lowe in the squad.

There will always be injuries, it’s unrealistic to expect this season not to be blighted by them as much as last.

Not sure if you’re joking or not but in addition to four decent centre backs we also have Grimmer and Allen who can play there along with academy prospects. We are more than covered for that position.

If he does well out on loan, and needs must,we can recall him in January.

Harvie can also fill in there (RB). Although I’m sure how comfortable he’d be long term.

I think Anders can fill in at LB too. Although I might be making that up/relying of football managers stats….

Love it, @Wendoverman !!

I know you well enough now to recognise a friendly jab in the ribs.

I ummed and aahed about saying this but you’ve provided the perfect cue.

I will be watching with interest - on Sky Sports + - the match on Thursday evening between Bristol City and Walsall. Unless Skura is considered too good to risk against those well known Championship cloggers, the match will provide an early insight into how well he is adapting to the challenge of League Two football. He may have reached his peak at Yeovil Town.

Gawd rest our tortured souls!

True. But he seems competent and might get lucky.

Aren’t you the guy who traditionally finishes rock bottom of the Samaritans score prediction table?

We need @DevC ’s prediction. He’s brilliant at it, worldwide.
