I think the main point Frequent is making is that it’s crazy people think the owner doesn’t care about the on pitch stuff, just the academy and infrastructure.
When we’ve suddenly changed from being a club who barely pay transfer fees, to suddenly lashing money out around the park (albeit helped by the Kone fee).
Yes we’ve got a fair few signings wrong but the will to pay is there.
Duff’s recent comments show we’re trying our best to bring in some big signings - but funnily enough those players will be in demand!

Yes I am aware and agree. I think we have had a sensible window so far with more to come. My response was in sarcasm aimed at an earlier post.
And a window can never be judged as successful until we see the players perform too!
Just ask Liverpool after what looked an incredible window last summer, on top of a squad who’d already won the league fairly comfortably.

Daniel Kanu would be a good player for us to go in for 45 plus games for Charlton. Scored a decent amount at Walsall
It may well be a case of don’t fall in love with a loan player. The swansea guy could well go back too.
We could be without any of our players by the end of January. Luckily it’s only August.

Quite. But is frustrating that £1m doesn’t seem to buy you much anymore and you have to rely on a loan.

Given Duff’s comments last night, my assumption is we bid £1m+ for Nathan Lowe, then when he rejected us Stoke offered us Tegzel on loan as a second prize. I suspect Tegzel is not the sort of player Duff wanted as a first choice 9 - playing Woodrow there last season and last night suggests Duff would like a more solid, experienced man to lead the line with an energetic youngster coming on against tired legs. That’s certainly what I’d like myself. But now he’s said publicly we’re willing to offer seven figures for a player I’m not sure many clubs will sell us any striker for less, even if they’re valued lower.
I know you take the anti-approach as a style but I can’t help agreeing with that last bit.
Not sure what the benefits of quoting values is bar just covering himself and the club to try and prove they are really searching for a player.

Given that he specifically mentioned MK Dons, I would imagine his “number one” target was Sam Nombe.
Maybe but it’s widely quoted including in the Rotherham papers that he was bought for £600k. Would be unusual to reject an offer at least £400k higher, even if the player wanted to sign again for his old club.

It’s early days but on my initial viewings Lowe looks far more effective as a No 9 than Tezgel. I suspect Tezgel might even be effective as a No 10. They are certainly different players. I’m pretty sure our No 1 target was Lowe.
Tezgel was also someone who rarely played 90 minutes for Crewe last season. It took him a while to get settled at Crewe, making a first league start over a month into the season.
